Kalispell is actually starting to feel like home away from home! The mechanic ran into delays, truck won't be ready till Wednesday, so we are catching up with laundry, grocery shopping, haircuts, and resting. Wondering what we'll find when we open up the trailer after this long week. Need to get re-organized before we head west again.

For many years we thought that some day we would visit this park - and it's finally some day! Words fail me as we crane our necks this way and that, constantly finding beautiful views to feast upon. We're camping on Lake McDonald, which is crowded but quiet. Lots of older folks like us, now that school is in session. Can't tow the pop-up through the park ...

Something that has caught my eye in these parts are the small, free-standing espresso shops, little cabins that offer great coffee at a drive-through window. They're everywhere and very uniquely decorated. Haven't seen them elsewhere, yet.

We hit the road for Glacier National Park where one of my best friends from high school was getting married. We drove through North Dakota as it was the last continental state I hadn't been in and the second to last for Jeremy (other is Michigan). ... evacuated, but never returned. The bordello was preserved as it was left when they fled. I was expecting a wild west saloon. It looked more like bad 1970s rec room basement. There was lots of wood paneling and velvet nude art. It was impressive how creative the madam in skirting laws. No monetary values were ever written down. She didn't sell alcohol because of a lack of liquor license, but encouraged patrons to donate to the juke box ...

... beautiful museum at the entrance, about the Canadian part of the park. Uh-uh. Closed. Amtrak station here. Closed. We've hit the first weekend closing of the park -- the one before, all was open still. And today, no snow, no stormy weather blocking all the roads. We're disappointed sure. But Andrew, the mountains are still there! We drive on in. I stop and get his picture by the entry gate.

... the 1.5 mile mark, we had an overlook of the lake. We continued the hike down to this lake surrounded by mountains. Walking on the trail was a mountain goat and her baby goat. It was cool since we were right next to them. Further down the trail, it was warm out so we took off our fleece. I think the temperature went from 50 something to 80 in one mile.
