This is a really weird feeling, leaving home for a five month adventure. We do a lot of traveling, but never one of this length. It's required an humongous amount of planning and while we've tried to think of all contingencies, we know that's not even possible.
And that's OK--part of the seat-of-your-pants traveling we're best at.
We ...
Kalispell, Montana, United States bobnkarenWe’ve recently made a trip to three National Parks: Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier. The short description of this trip together with multiple photos was published on our website http://www.innaartwork.com/ (specifically in ...
Glacier National Park, Montana, United States ilazarev... National Park (NB: US used so as not to be confused with BC’s Glacier NP) was a twelve mile dead-end road directing us to Many Glacier with a lake plus dam and many gorgeous mountains with some small glaciers attached. We did, however, get to view a Grizzly at close range (let me know if it is just a large cinnamon Black Bear).

Our next foray was to visit one of the park’s information centres and get the never ...
Apgar, Montana, United States tombuttleKalispell is actually starting to feel like home away from home! The mechanic ran into delays, truck won't be ready till Wednesday, so we are catching up with laundry, grocery shopping, haircuts, and resting. Wondering what we'll find when we open up the trailer after this long week. Need to get re-organized before we head west again.
Kalispell, Montana, United States denisita... us a loaner, we will leave the camper at the dealership for the week and we will head towards Canada in this red Corolla. Drive through Banff and Jasper? Try to find V's distant cousin that we've been wanting to meet for over 25 years? Looking on the map, they live waaayy up north in British Columbia. What the heck! Maybe we'll just go for it!
Kalispell, Montana, United States denisitaGlacier National Park is fantastic. The highway, named "Into The Sun
Highway" (exactly what we were doing!), hugs the mountainside, dips
into valleys and brings you up through glorious passes. It's like a 50
km scenic roller coaster ride. Wheeeee!
Columbia Falls, Montana, United States bonthornWe hit the road for Glacier National Park where one of my best friends from high school was getting married. We drove through North Dakota as it was the last continental state I hadn't been in and the second to last for Jeremy (other is Michigan). The western end was very pretty with landscape similar to the Badlands in South Dakota and home to Roosevelt National Forest. Eastern end was rather sparse with ...
West Glacier, Montana, United States gra8ful... evacuated, but never returned. The bordello was preserved as it was left when they fled. I was expecting a wild west saloon. It looked more like bad 1970s rec room basement. There was lots of wood paneling and velvet nude art. It was impressive how creative the madam in skirting laws. No monetary values were ever written down. She didn't sell alcohol because of a lack of liquor license, but encouraged patrons to donate to the juke box ...
West Glacier, Montana, United States l_schultz... beautiful museum at the entrance, about the Canadian part of the park. Uh-uh. Closed. Amtrak station here. Closed. We've hit the first weekend closing of the park -- the one before, all was open still. And today, no snow, no stormy weather blocking all the roads. We're disappointed sure. But Andrew, the mountains are still there! We drive on in. I stop and get his picture by the entry gate.
West Glacier, Montana, United States burtonll... the 1.5 mile mark, we had an overlook of the lake. We continued the hike down to this lake surrounded by mountains. Walking on the trail was a mountain goat and her baby goat. It was cool since we were right next to them. Further down the trail, it was warm out so we took off our fleece. I think the temperature went from 50 something to 80 in one mile. We finally made it down to the lake. The lake was blue and clear. It was really something to see the lake totally away from ...
