... What, in essence, this coin represents is the continuation of the journey; a reminder that there are still many more miles to cover.
The last night in Appleby was a quiet family affair, Food, Wine and a movie from my childhood ('The Last Starfighter' - good choice Joanna!) and we are now just killing time until 2pm when it will be time to set off for Geordieland and my date with density ... er, I mean destiny ... ... I think!
... Riding down through Cumbria the amount of rivers that had burst their bank & surface water on the roads was staggering and really confirmed that we had made a good decision.
Currently, we are all sitting in the kitchen with Anne, Phillip and their two children Ieuan & Elise having stuffed our faces with home made lasagne & apple crumble claimed to be all of work of Phil our host!.. the look on Anne's face might mean he was exagerating some what!
... else to put in my bag, just need to pack my hand luggage and the few bits I use in the morning then that’s me sorted. Gona miss everyone but here’s to a new adventure, new chapter in my life and lots of good fun and exciting memories.

Ingnoring most advice we did head off for our anniversary weekend to the Lake District. Cumbria had just experience record rainfall of 400+ mm of rain in 24 hours and amny parts of the area were severly flooded. We had a great run up on the M6 on Friday afternoon and settled into Elim House. In the moring we went down to see the lake which was now creeping ...
Bowness-on-Windermere, England, United Kingdom geoffrhonda... described as a very funny and eventful night... upon returning to my Pendlese home, I found my flatemate Jess standing at the flat door, bag-less, phone-less, key-less, one-shoe-missing with her eyes closed, just leaning- scarily- on the door.... at first I thought she was just waiting for someone to come up with her things, but it turned out that she had absolutely no recollection of the night, post 12am! 2 pound triples at Cuba do that to you! I had to phone ...
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom katie.pitt... back to Hawkshead.
We had planned to stop in Ambleside on the way home to see the Roman ruin "Galava", which unfortunately turned out to be a muddy field with some ridges in. Most disappointing, and it started to rain again as we walked back to the car, leading to a damp drive home. On a positive note, we did get home in a record four hours, just in time for Eartha to watch Dr Who.
... local stone and was heavily besieged with the rising brook. The trees opposite were already underwater.
Back at the hut, the key was nowhere to be found. We stood in the porch feeling damp and sorry for ourselves, whilst the rain continued to bucket down. I searched under every stone and in each possible hiding place. Clearly someone had been back and gone out again. We dripped pathetically and considered our options.
My car was there, but the ...
The rain came down in sheets. There were gusts of wind that blew clouds of water across the motorway. The night was pitch black and spray from the road surface obscured the tail-lights of the cars infront. Many cars had their fog lights on to try to cut through the storm.
The rain beat continuously on the windscreen. I started to wonder how many thudding drops glass needs before it starts to ...
Tow truck 2, turns up at 15:29 and we are off again for the next leg of the journey, Stirling Services to Lancaster Services. This journey takes around 4 hours and I have a nice chat with the driver, Jim all the way. We phone ahead and arrange the next tow truck to meet us at Lancaster at 19:15, guess what? Yes, it wasn't there and I am told it won't be there until 20:15 and it finally arrives at 20:30
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom peterward... of the lake and I strolled around for 10 minutes or so. I assume that was Windermere, but I am not sure. I upload a few picture from there and if you know where it is, please tell me. Anyway, on our way back, we dropped by Lakeside Motor Museum. I was not interested antique cars exhibited in the museum, but John really was.
