After eating, we set off for the Lady's Market, which didn't have much to offer besides fresh fruit and veg, cheap clothes and meat that day. But it wasn't too far from the railway station so I thought we'd buy our tickets for Thessaloniki, where we were headed the next day. We've eaten out quite often here because it's so cheap, and enjoyed some really good food and local wine. Tomorrow we head to Istanbul, and wonder how much has changed since we were last there in 1976. So ends our sojourn in Eastern ...

In November, a group of Fulbrighters (a large group of about 15) decided to plan a trip to the ski resort, Pamporovo in the Rhodopi Mountains. I figured I would snowboard..since the last time I went skiing my sister took to me to HUGE mountain and pushed me down and I rolled 10 times. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating..she might have nudged me. Either way, it was traumatic. When I left Dimitrovgrad it was sunny and warm. About 5 minutes into the ...
