We spent a busy morning making the boat ship shape. I had the honour of cleaning the heads. It was a picnic compared to lying on the pontoon scrubbing the topsides yesterday, after half a bottle of rosé. When I came back on board after being to the shops, UB was holding the ceiling in his hands. It had rained heavily and he'd discovered a leak or two. Thankfully we had some kitchen roll on hand to plug the drips and we left a bowl under one of them to catch the ...

104. West Highland Way Race.

... had a crescent moon that gave little light. Dry under foot and muggy around us. I reached the old railway line in an hour as I hoped, 6 miles done. It was a gentle plod along here with groups to encourage us a long the way which lifted the spirits. By now we were getting more spread apart and at times I was on my own, I was surprised this had happened so quickly with a field of 193, their highest ever. 10 miles were done in no time but then we had the road for 2 miles to Drymen, ...

It is possible to buy a suit that transforms you into a plush kangaroo, complete with pouch. I don't think anybody can ...

... it was a Spitfire from one of the World Wars.

Coming to terms with not understanding the order of the museum, I walked around the perimeter looking for the art the pamphlet advertised. I saw a heart-breakingly sad statute of a father and child mourning the death of wife and mother. The details in something as small and insignificant as their shoes was very moving to me, as it signified that they were poor (the fathers shoes) and very like every small child I've ever ...

Exploring Glasgow

... and get this done.

Glasgow has been pretty good, with some good shopping to be done if you wanted to. Tomorrow we’re driving almost two hours to Cairnryan then catching a ferry to Belfast which I’m excited about.

The Opening Ceremony has been pretty spectacular so far. I enjoyed the creation of the Olympic Rings, the Queen’s arrival sequence and seeing J K Rowling and Voldemort. We cheered when we just saw the Australian team enter the ...
