Day 1 - Arriving in Edinburgh we pick up our hire car and have been upgraded to the latest Volvo XC60 - this is definitely no jalopy! We head to Largs via our hotel in Edinburgh arriving at Aunty Betty's at 10:30 pm to a lovely welcoming cup of tea and Teacakes! We are all overwhelmed to see the Matriarch of the Scottish clan after 4 years and are so thrilled by how great Aunty Betty is looking in the year of her 80th Birthday! Eventually heading over to stay at Lily and Butchs ...

... I thought we might have needed to change stations there but no - just had to go downstairs to Platform 17 and within about 5 minutes we were on a train to Milngavie. We hopped into the car and were home in Drymen by just after 11 o'clock.

... 4 whiskys in 30min.  A fun drive back to Glasgow with amazing music and dancing from our tour guide the day had concluded and was time for some dinner. We chose Paperino's an Italian restaurant where we had a lovely meal, shared bruchetta for starters, mushroom risotto and spaghetti and chicken for mains and shared a chocolate cake for dessert. After a walk around the town we were so tired it was time to go back to the hotel and sleep. ...

... if a square, black pudding fried, bacon, eggs and our new favourite POTATO SCONES!
That day we accompanied Alan and Fee's family (and his son Euan) to Balloch Park which is the surrounds at Loch Lomond. Beautiful park with a castle and a track which you can walk around the Loch. We met pretty much his entire family and we felt just like part of them eating fish and chippies.
