The hotel is wonderful and in a great location - just a short walk through the park to a mall. The breakfast buffet is amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel, Great Service - Stay at the Park

Let's face it. Lima is not the prettiest place in the world. There is a fairly nasty diesel smell that hangs in the air downtown; cabbies are ruthless; and pickpockets are plentiful. These are reasons to head out to Miraflores, a trendy suburb of Lima.

We stayed at the Miraflores Park Hotel for two nights in early June 2006. We arrived in Lima and they had a car ready for us - USD$26 from the airport to the hotel. That's roughly three times what would be a reasonable price for such a fare, and there will be more on this racketeering between the hotel and the taxis later - a quick preview, this and similar gouging is what ranks this hotel four stars and not five.

We arrived too early to get our room - roughly 6am - but the concierge invited us up for breakfast on the rooftop patio. A fantastic sight (although Lima is frequently foggy/cloudy) where there is a spa, pool, and tented restaurant.

Eventually checked in - a very nice, large room for about USD$200 - certainly reasonable by Manhattan standards and certainly better priced than the Monasterio in Cusco or the Sanctuary Lodge in Machu Picchu!

The Park hotel is very close to Larco Mar and within a reasonable distance from sights such as the Huaca Pucyallana. It feels very safe.

Now, let me get to the taxis. Owner of the Park Hotel, are you listening? I am not one to quickly bandy about the words "criminal racketeering" without thinking it through first. But the active sponsorship by this hotel of people who loot tourists with impunity is simply unforgiveable.

          To explain.

The hotel has a "trusted taxi" service, which means that they have some guys generally available for hire. They will pick you up from the airport (which isn't such a bad idea as the jackals at the airport are terrible) or take you around town. They freely admit that this taxi service charges more - allegedly because it is safer - but this is the understatement of the century. We took this taxi service from the hotel to downtown Lima. The charge? 42 Soles (about US$14). The cost to come back by taxi (not the hotel's car service)? 7 Soles (just north of US$2). THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE.

Similarly, the hotel is pretty cheap for not offering breakfast with the price of the room to all of their guests - almost every other hotel I stayed at in Peru offered that.

So, those two blemishes notwithstanding, this was one of the best hotels I stayed at in Peru. The breakfasts were wonderful, the location great, and the rooms were very nice. The service level is significantly above this hotel's peers in Peru. Definitely stay here. Just stay away from their cabs.

          Great place to visit

We arrived in Lima after a trip to Cuzco/Machu Pichhu. We very much enjoyed the hotel. The room was large and comfortable with a great view of the ocean. Service was excellent--the desk made a number of restaurant reservations and arranged for cars to take us and pck us up. The view from the top floor for breakfast is great and the choices of fresh fruit were among the best for breakfast. The neighberhood is excellent for a walk or jog along the shore. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I visited Lima for a business trip or another vacation.

An oasis at the end of a grueling flight..

We stayed at the MIraflores Park for two nights after flying in to LIma from San Francisco. We were checked in and in our room quickly. This room was lovely.. great bed, big bathroom. We had booked a garden suite and when we woke up the next morning we opened our curtains to find a real garden. Not just a tiny patch of grass, but a nice sized garden with grass, bushes, a comfy lounge and chairs, just for our use. It was a great place to sit in the sunshine and have coffee or relax after sightseeing. The restaurant on the top floor that serves breakfast has a beautiful view of the shoreline and overlooks the infinity pool. The food was excellent and we enjoyed lunch at the main restaurant. The hotel is located accross the street from a path that enables you to walk extensively along the upper part of the shoreline down to an upscale mall with shops and retaurants. Though not inexpensive, this hotel is worth every penny. Just loved it!

          Great Choice!

My wife and I stayed at the Miraflores Park Hotel on a one-week visit to Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu this Februrary. The trip was booked through Orient Express and they used the services of Lima Tours for most of the package. Since we never travel in groups or on a package, I was a little uneasy. Our arrival at the Lima Airport and tranfer to the Miraflores Park began to ease my concerns, however. We were met and ushered to our private transfer vehicle as we enjoyed a quick orientation to Lima's neighborhoods on the way to the hotel. The Miraflores Park is located in an upscale neighborhood by the ocean. Situated at the end of a small park and near a wonderful sidewalk that meanders along the waterfront (although elevated a couple of hundred feet), it brings you to a small shopping center that is perched on the cliff. This is great for souvenir hunters or those on the lookout for bargain prices on llama and vicuna items. The hotel itself has a very nice lobby with plenty of space to lounge and read while waiting for someone or for your transportation. The restaurant is very nice and has an outdoor terrace at street level. There is also a great bar off the lobby. The pool is located on the top level of the hotel and is rather small. There is another restaurant there and it's great for breakfast with views that look out over Miraflores and the Pacific. As for the rooms, they are modern and very well decorated. There is plenty of space and the bathrooms and amenities are top-notch. The service is probably the best thing about this hotel. It is friendly, but not chummy and is very professional. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants comfort, security and a friendly smile. This is a hotel that would shine in any city.

          Best hotel in Miraflores

This Hotel is the very best of Miraflores one could ever ask for.

The high pressure watefall showerheads make you want to shower for an hour.

The hotel rooms reminded me very much of Ceasars Palace. The service here is outstanding.....exceeded my expectations. The business Center offers internet access and a very helpful employee Diana who goes above and beyond to help with anything you could possibly imagine. Staying at Miraflores Park Hotel is a must when travling to Miraflores.

          Lovely Hotel

We liked this hotel very much. Our room faced the ocean. It was a comforatble size with room for a king size bed as well as seating. The bathroom was large with marble tiles, a large rainfall shower and a separate tub. We had access to the lounge/business center which had several computers. Staff in the lounge, as well as the rest of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served either inside or on a lovely outdoor patio.

The hotel was located across the street from a park and was one of the nicest settings that I saw while in Lima. It was a lovely, comfortable hotel.

          Loved this hotel!

The Miraflores was an unexpected delight. We stayed 3 nights in mid-September 2005, and returned for a day room before our departure from Peru. We used all of this hotel's facilities and services and found Miraflores to be excellent in every category.

This is not a tour group hotel. You get outstanding personal service. I think what we really likes best about the service was the sincere willingness to help. Every request was treated with a smile and energetic, confident efficiency. This hotel helped shaped our very positive opinions of Peru and Orient Express Hotels.

The hotel itself is handsome and quite stylish in an old fahioned club way. Check in is a calm and personal affair with refreshments served - even at 2 am. The rooms are large and very comfortable with beautiful views of the coastline - think San Francisco fog over a 1950's Malibu Pacific Coast Highway. Of course there was also the welcome note from the manager, wonderful linens and great turn down service. We were upgraded to a suite for our day room upon return. This included a 6' diameter tub along with a sauna. We were so sad to leave, to spend the night on the plane.

Something everyone comments on in this hotel is the great showers. The shower is an overhead sunflower type with no water restriction. It's an all out deluge.

Jessica in the Business lounge was great in arranging our express mail packages, faxes, internet usage as well as making some travel arrangements for us in Machu Picchu which coordinated with their sister hotel Monestario. Plus they have fruit, cookies and other nice treats along with refreshments in the lounge.

Sadly the pool on their gorgeous rooftop deck was under repair during our stay, but the new fitness room was more than adequate. The manager apologized profusely about the pool, and was very helpful and gracious.

Breakfasts next to the sunny rooftop deck were excellent and the service was excellent. The bar serves the best Pisco Sours I have ever had.

We had incredible food at the dining room along with great service. I'd be hard pressed to find another restaurant anywhere that matched the quality of this amazingly fresh seafood. The ceviche, scallops in the shell, grilled octopus, sea bass, crab fingers, et al was fantastic. The sea bream encrusted in salt is the best I have had anywhere, ever, and here I thought that was a Turkish specialty.

If you want beef go to Argentina but if you are willing to try what Peru does best, in food and service, you will enjoy Miraflores.

          A flawless performance

An excellent experience from the moment our driver met us up at the airport until we were dropped 2 days later. We took advantage of the driver services offered by the hotel which is very affordable compared with North American and European prices. The room was spacious, with a beautiful view of the ocean, and included all of the extras - Internet, mini-bar, robes and slippers. The bathroom was very large with a separate bath and shower (complete with an oversized showerhead). The staff were extremely accomodating. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent (especially the seafood) and our sommelier was very well versed in the regional wines. We were amazed at how affordable such a luxury hotel could be.

Pretty hotel, nice beach view, a bit out of the way

I have stayed here twice. The shower heads are superb but boy they must waste a lot of water. Nice saunas in some rooms. Nice views of the beach. Not overly helpful and a bit snooty. On a Sunday morning during the summer months, I was in the lobby in shorts and a button down shirt awaiting my driver and was hassled by hotel security for some reason - I am pretty clearly American looking, not Peruvian, was holding a digital camera and looked like a tacky tourist but not a threat and I was a guest of the hotel. This bugged me a lot and made me decided that next time I won't deal with the hassle of their out of the way location and say in San Isidro closer to the action.

Arrived to Lima, Peru at 1530. Superb flight with Thompson Airways. Hot and humid. Hope it is not snowing in Atlanta. Went to the Museo Rafael Larco Herrera Museum. Saw Incan artifacts. Pottery was fascinating as was the After-Life dress. Nice dinner at the Miraflores Park Hotel. Long but nice travel day.
