Today we left our very old hotel in Dingwall not far from Inverness. We drove to Culloden to the battle site explored the area of the battle. We travelled onto to Loch Ness trying to find the monster, Nessie. She wasn't to be found. We travelled onto Loch Lomond and then to our accom for the night in Prestwick. What a wonderful scenic drive. We have seen so many castles on our trip. One we particularly ...

... very well at the B&B by our hosts. We found a pub in Girvan which did lovely meals so we ate there most nights. We went into Ayr one evening after the golf and had a meal at a local restaurant and wandered around the city and harbour. It has been really good for me because I don't have to walk very far before Treacle has had an extremely good work out. ...

This morning we awoke early to set out on a journey that would highlight some interesting aspects of this part of the world. Roger, our host, has been a widower for about 10 years. His two grown children have both chosen medical careers - his son Martin, an MD specializing in rheumatology, and his daughter, Suzanne is completing additional dentistry training in Hong Kong. Roger is a details man, keeping record of everything ...

    ... and throning masses.
We picked up the cycle route to Irvine, though soon opted for roads as the usual issue of cycle paths being glorified (minimally glorified) pavements made decent progress impossible. We did pick it up again later though and were taken through some nice country park areas and on quiet lanes now bypassed by major new roads. From Irvine we took the B road to Stewarton, then on to Fenwick, where we stopped for tea ...
