Natal, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil pamericas... punctuated by an ice cold beer... until saturday...

So this weekend was a national holiday in Brazil.. and it seems the whole city of Natal descended on Genipabu by bus.. a bit like going to Brighton for the day. This quiet place transformed during the day into a bustling hotspot.. with visitors arriving at 7am, plonking themselves on the beach and ordering their first beer.. crazy. So our guesthouse wheeled out enormous speakers and started pumping out dodgy Brazilian ...
Genipabu and Pipa, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil thefletchersSo after a whirlwind of packing up the house and shipping ourselves out... we finally made it to Brazil yesterday evening! We flew to Lisbon and then connected to Natal and caught a taxi to Ponta Negra which is about 15 minutes south of Natal.

We are slowly taking it all in but its quite surreal.. we are a 5 minute walk from a huge long beach where it is literally bustling with life. You wouldnt believe it. You sit ...
Natal, State of Parana, Brazil thefletchers... me and Felix. I know pass the ´sick bucket´, I hear you but it really was that perfect, that it could have been written for Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in the ilk of one of their sappy romantic movies that we all love but will never admit, a la Sleepless in Seattle. Before I know it Ed and Felix are driving me to the airport. At the airport Felix comes in and waits with me and when the time comes to go through into the departure lounge, my good intentions of not crying or ...
Natal, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil hezza39... funky bars. We ate seafood (Mariscos) paella made with love by a sweet Italian man who calls himself James Bond and owns a tiny restaurant just south of the main strip. Bond also had Argentina wine to complement the dishes. Lo and behold, we ran into the Israelis Oreo and Missy Moo who had split from the psytrance party crew and picked their own path. They must have been travelling rapidly like us to be here already. We hooked them up with a Jerusalem ...
Praia Da Pipa, Brazil inoursuitcase... says it all the time and usually in the right context. I laugh whenever he says it. My favorite word here is "legal" (lay-gow), which actually means legal in portuguese but it is also slang for "cool". I say "legal" a ton as that is usually the word I resort to when I don´t know what someone is saying to me (which is often) and after they give me a blank stare after I say "Sim" yes. So if someone says to me something like "I ...
Pipa, Brazil merkdog4... without too much trouble. It´s not like Barbados (even though I was there by myself) because English is the official language of Barbados, and the foreign language is really what makes or can make traveling difficult. And it´s not like Italy either because I was with Beans and two heads are always better than 1 especially when one of those heads can see over everyone else by more than a foot. Get back to the hostel after spending the day ...
Natal, Brazil merkdog4... on your own is fine provided there are other people to talk to. I used to hate touristy places on the trip with Collins but felt myself wishing for more tourists that week. But I'm still really glad I went to the Northeast. It's defo worth going to and if I was there again on my own, I would go to a few more beachey resorts where it's more likely you will meet people...and get a fecking tan! I'm Buaili the snowman personified at the moment ...
Natal, Brazil roro... we saw the airport name as they only made the annmouncements in Portuguese! Had to take off an hour again when we got to Natal which I didn´t understand at all but by then was beyond caring! The Hotel Manary Praia is lovely, very civilised, shame we are only here for 8hrs but are back in a couple of days. Had a beer and a piriton for the bites I picked up today and slept very well!
Natal, Brazil keithandshelley... to find as we recommended it to some friends who were in Natal last year, but they missed it. It is located on the beach front street of Ponta Negra. All you will see is a sign and some steps leading up 30 or 40 feet. There you will find picnic tables under a canopy. This place has the best pizza we have ever tried. The garlic pizza was an extra special delight, but the other varieties were great as well. We ate here 4 times during our short stay ...
