      Our first couple of nights in Greece were spent in a place called Alexandroupolis where we had found a campground that was open, which turned out to be a bit of a wonder in Greece, but it gave us the time to have an admin day, catch up on emails, blogs and also to do some washing.

      Whilst there, we also caught up with some of the Dutchies that we had met in Turkey (travelling in an off-road expedition truck) and also met some Germans who were on their way ...

Well, Joy rounded the corner of the doorway and started reading the exhibition screens showing the English translation to the Italian notes, which were all about this painting which had been discovered and which was now attributed to Leonardo, how it was found and what all the story was, who the portrait was about etc .....       ... were closed for the day, or opened late, but we did see the cathedral, it's oratorio and the civic museum, where Joy was delighted to find a fresco by Reni.       ... bill and aired our thanks for a wonderful dinner, we spent a while wondering around, watched the skaters on the open air ice rink and then took a small nightcap of grappa in our favourite bar, listening to the said band. Eventually at about one we headed back to the hotel to find that a bucket of ice containing a bottle of bubbly stuff and two glasses and some chocolates had been left in our room :-) well we couldn't let it go to waste!!
