Croatia part 2

After our day on Korcula island the weather has finally been sunny and hot as we had ordered!!!! We have spent the last 2 days sunning, lazing and swimming in the ocean. We have finally gotten our tans back and it has been a very relaxing vacation. Mirek bought a snorkle mask in Prague and has seen lots of fishes, the mask does not fit me though, but the water is SOO clear that if I stand still I can also see lots of the same fish!! Not surprisingly, a cat has adopted me here. Or I adopted hi...

Sail Croatia - taking a dive

... anchor for a swim, which is where the attached photo was taken. This process of waking up sailing down the coast, followed by a swim, sun baking, lunch, drinking, swim, drinking games, dinner in the local port and clubbing became to routine for the week. A great way to spend a week. By the end of the trip all 30 people on the boat were good mates, (with dark tans and wild stories). Definitely a must do trip, would definitely do it again.
weirdly amniotic swimming in orebic

... but the view and the water was stunning.
A pre-dinner swim and a few games of cards made for a very relaxed
evening. Dusk came early and by 10 o'clock our neighbours were all
asleep so we went for a swim in surreally calm waters. Silence and
stars was at once awesome and yet strangely reminiscent of being
trapped in a screensaver.
To take the ferry or not to take the ferry

(S) Ahh, the last town on the peninsula. Chad of course is not satisfied and wants to take the ferry to Korcula and Korcula City - luckily, the ferry lands about 3 kilometers from town and he decides "too hard." We walk around town, searching for "nefles," the nameless fruit we fell in love with in Portugal that grows all over southern Europe. We don't find ...

Croatia

... my first impression of Croatia, a place that had been in my mind and dreams for well over a year. It was so strangely relieving to see the ocean again, and I hadn't realised how much I missed it, or how moving the sight of it could be. And here, with these tiny islands splattered across the blue, was something new and enticing. The bus descended into Dubrovnik, and I, the bitter, veteran traveller, haggled and stomped my way into one of the cheaper rooms in ...

Repaired City

Dubrovnik Like - the beauty of the town Dislike - the amount of tourist, it was amazing the cruise ships going there, and its just overwhelming, you cant even walk with out a herd. I think the locals get a bit fed up and were a little rude, but I don't blame them with all the tourist there. Do Differently - stay for a shorter amount of time, or go to some of the islands (Lopud), or to Mostar in Bosnia for day trips. Stayed - stayed at ...

We were out of Kuna (the currencz here) and ended up having to walk back to our hostel at 130 in the morning. But it was a beautiful night and we all enjozed it. Another prettz daz on the coast here, I hope the weather in Italy is like this too. Better get back to the bus station where Ben is gaurding our packs....

Pearl of the Adriatic

... the same jokes that we imagine most not so funny travelers recite when leaving Hungary (about being full and having our fill etc.), and we were struck almost immediately by the sudden change in scenery. Almost at the border itself the farmlands and rich, loamy soil to which we had grown accustomed to in Hungary gave way to a decidedly Mediterranean looking landscape. For a while we thought we had been transported into the Tuscan countryside with its rolling crimson tinted ...

Darling Dubrovnik

... the tickets, but exciting now. We were welcomed in the business lounge where all kinds of treats awaited us. We kept asking if everything was free. They would smile and say yes. It was nice to feel like luxury for a few hours. We had a wonderful flight into Vienna and managed to find a cheap room with a kitchen nearby. We are excited about our little flat. Sometimes we share it with a few others, but it is nice. This is our home base as we explore Vienna. I'm sure it will be fun.

Dubrovnik from a hungover perspective

... on our own through various streets and shops. Dubrovnik looks amazing with SOOO much history but in the state we were in, we didn't really have the will to appreciate too much.
