    ... filling up with fuel in Croatia, heading for the cheap fuel. Problem was we couldn't quite figure how far away the border was. So as our low fuel bell was dinging, we pulled off the highway south and put another 100kuna of fuel in to get us to the Bosnia border. Asking a truckie at the fuel stop, he said we had another 50k to go to get to the border, so we were glad we had stopped. The truckie's English wasn't that good, so we double checked with the store attendant. ...

    ... but as we headed north, the sun gained the upper hand. About four hours later, we reached the Peljesac Peninsula, our destination for the day, and had driven all of 43 miles.

    Along the route, we actually passed through Bosnia and Herzegovina once again. BiH has a coveted six-mile stretch of coastline that peeks out from the folds of Croatia. There’s a long and complex story behind this, like so many stories about this region.

    ... anyone else do it, so it felt like I was the first one to do it! I got up the courage, with the help of one of the guys, Sam, who let me use him for balance as I climbed over the railing, then I took the plunge off the edge!     ... went out there to explore the chapel and the ruins. It was really nice a peaceful and we got some great views. Some men were at work restoring the monastery, and it was taking them about 15 minutes to shape each stone for the wall. It really gave us an appreciation for how long and how many men must have been needed to build the original structure.

    ... much knew it was gone forever and its just a material thing. We both agreed what's done was done. He borrowed a snorkel and mask for a quick look and with the sandy bottom, we knew there was a pretty short window to retrieve it.
