... a campsite in Portoroso. But on heading there, the sat nav in the car decided to die and left us flailing for directions on a Slovenian motorway. ... the sea which was about 10 metres from our balcony. Piran is one of the jewels of the coastline for Slovenia. It only has a coast of about 40kms. This city was once ruled by the Venetian empire so there is a lot of Venetian influence especially in the small narrow cobbled streets and lanes.

... The water was so crystal clear and although extremely deep right from entry level it was very calm and felt very safe.

Piran has beautiful little winding cobblestone streets that lead away from the sea to the main town square where all the local children come out to play soccer when the sun goes down. There were one or two touristy stores but for the most part just the sea, our one gorgeous hotel and a handful of delicious seafood restaurants. ...
