    And they're off ! A Three Day Report !

We were up bright and early at 7am, we slept quite well to say it was the day of departure, usually were awake all night worrying we must be getting used to it - the worrying that is ! A quick bowl of porridge to settle 'boat belly' a last few checks and we were off - we were going to cross the Bay of Biscay. Over the Centuries the Bay has seen the demise of many a sailor, thousands of them dying in the treacherous Bay between France and Spain, ...

    Last Day in Camaret

A travel blog entry by ramblingsailors on Aug 06, 2015

... to cover it at around 6 knots on average, about two and a half days if all goes well. I will update the blog tonight so if after a week there as been no more updates of our progress we've probably been eaten by fish and the adventure ended somewhere in Biscay ! We joined Ted and Chris for farewell drinks at the 'Donegan' and hopefully we will catch up with them later in the year in the Med. Camaret has been lovely but the time is now right to move ...

... good job we moved when we did. Even the Naval Rescue ship has taken refuge in the lee of the bay. I had a hot shower to get rid of the diesel smell and then got dressed up (well shirt and jeans) for the first time in weeks - why ?? I just felt like it. And after a hearty dinner of Chilli con Carne, French Bread and a bottle of Red we popped into town for a hour. We met up with Ted and Chris another couple we ...

    The dreaded outer Breakwater

It was a horrible night on this mooring so we need to move soon as possible, we hardly slept and I wish we had never even moved to be honest. We pay a 50% supplement for being a catamaran but on this mooring I think they should be paying us - if you ever visit Camaret in a yacht, trust me don't moor on the outer breakwater it is horrendous. Tracey went to the hairdressers this morning until lunch time so ...

    Full Day Foraging

First thing this morning we had to move the boat to another mooring on the outside quay due to a rally of yachties arriving - I don't like motoring in breezy weather, the boat is very difficult to steer but with the help of a couple of people we managed to get her alongside without any drama, but the motion is worse than being at sea - so no sleep tonight I'm guessing. The rest of the day we spent foraging in the bay, we found razor clams, cockles, mussels, lob worms and peeler crabs. ...
