Nosy Be the big island, is a happy, and happening place. It's has an international airport, international music festivals, and is a bustling and prosperous place. We extended our stay on the island to avoid the torture of a 24hr taxi brusse ride back to Tana. Donia festival was too much fun. The Afro-Gasy shake-shake music will really get you moving. Great beaches, you can buy fresh pineapples, oranges and bananas even samosas without even getting off your ...

This morning we went for an excellent bike ride through the AO plantation. Our guide Mishna was a trove of information on all the plants and processes involved. Cocoa is their main crop, along with pepper,(green, white, and black) ylang ylang, verviter (sp?) and patchouli. The latter being distilled for the production of perfume. The peppercorns actually all grow on the same plant, the difference is in the way they are prepared and cured after harvest. The cocoa is grown under ...

... I knew that it was not the best time since it would make me arrive in Ankarafantsika even later and of course I haven't made a reservation for anything. We arrived in Ambanja at around 1:30 pm. Instead of changing buses we were actually just given new seats on the bus. Half an hour later we took off. My time calculations for the rest of this trip wouldn't fail me. I arrived at the national park - which is in the middle of nowhere - at 1 am...in the middle of ...

... lemur area. On my way I met a local who offered to come along and explain things to me. After making sure it was free of charge we took off. He took some bananas as well, making sure I'd make some good friends with the furry creatures. Bacsos, the guy, knew how to call them and it didn't take long until I had lemurs jumping on me. Although probably not to be considered wild anymore, a dream came true. At least ...

    Diving around Nosy Be

... Fortunately I took sterile needles on the trip so I could drain it as sterile as possible. I totally underestimated how bad it already was. When I opened it huge amounts of pus where running out. I obviously had a very ripe phlegmon and it was about time I opened it. Felt much better without the pressure but it still hurt a lot because it was just so infected. Anyways, I put some betadine on it and gut ready for diving! Again I went ahead of the group and everything went ...
