    ... Tempo in the town. Then back to sit by the pool again with the odd drink (or two) to continue to put the world to rights.

    ... 6 as one was demolished for building the cities roads and buildings. This was a merchant town and the inner city has large homes made from wood, some now converted to museums. The outer shape of the building is square however from the entrance way you step into a large round main room that the outer square rooms are accessed from.

    ... was at the centre of the old trade routes, so lots of history and culture here. I have to be brief about it because I know very little, and the language, not to mention the script, is impenetrable!

    Getting used to brusque and sullen being the Bulgarian version of friendly and welcoming and actually all the people here have been lovely.

    Had a good coffee,then set off to walk up to the Liberator Monument. Supposed ...

    ... wintry-looking then, plus I didn't go as far as the fountains. This time all the trees were fully in leaf and the flowers had bloomed. The fountains turned out to look quite impressive, set within a massive pool which I was desperate to swim in. The sun was very hot and the water looked so inviting! No evidence of singing though...

    After staying there a while we suddenly realised what the time was. Quick march back ...
