It was originally owned by the Rockafeller Family and they donated it to the US Government on the provision that 75% would remain as National Park. When you visit you can see the wisdom of making that stipulation.

... got drenched, so we grabbed a taxi back to the ship. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub with the rain drizzling down and then went for a nice lunch. ... attraction. I actually remember doing that tour with thte family last time we visited so I passed. I remembered how dark and long the dungeon tunnels were and was not looking to dive into the depths of those after dark :D Even though some were dressed very elegantly you could tell it was a poverish town. One mother who didn’t speak English wanted me to meet her daughter for dinner all googley eyed. That or it was a hooker and old pimpstress! LOL!
... first stop is Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda to check in with customs, we get enough time to go to the bathroom and grab a beer from the supermarket ($1.00 vs $3.00 plus tip at the dock bar), before heading to our first stop at “The Baths”. Amb and I have been there already but it is one of those things that can be done over and over again. I would even go back again!! We go for lunch at Cooper ...
... not so sparing time we were allotted on this island we had to scrap that idea for something new. The new overall plan was to see as much of St. Thomas as we could. Upon exiting the ship and leaving the dock area you'll find plazas of shops, restaurants, and even our beloved Senor Frogs. But that's just the port shops! Our cruise had a specific director of shopping who would tell us all the best places to visit, he also let us in on the fact that the little portside shops ...
