... unreal, sun is fierce and not a breath of wind. Afternoons on the balcony are the order of the day, listening to all the birds shouting at each other and arguing over bread dropped on the floor at the cafe by the lake.

Great breakfast at hotel- meats, cheese, bread, cereal, brioche, dehydrated scrambled egg(ok). Metro to Duomo €1.50 any trip, big square, heaps tourists, African giving away free wrist bands. Church was amazing. Oner 100 towers and very ornate carvings. Took hundreds of years to build. Interior as impressive as Notre Dame but a bit rundown. Walked to Castille- another impressive ...
Visited Como and Brunate today.
We caught the bus from Menaggio and meandered around the shores of the lake passing through many towns. The prettiest were Cadenabbia and Tremezzo.
Como is a large sprawling city. Making us feel really happy about our choice of where to stay on the lake. We didn't do a great deal here. The trip back took longer with a number of traffic jams en route.
