On our way up we were stopped by a group of older Japanese people under a shelter on the side of the road. They gave us these little packs and asked us to say thank you at this little altar. Fun fact: French fries in Japan are called "fried ...

... body language I order a cassis flavored beer for Erika as well. Erika then ask if we could have an English menu. The waitress says something neither of us understand and walks away quickly. At this point, one of the young men sitting next to us says "Where are you from?" I immediately respond "Texas, how about you guys?" They proceed to explain that they are from central Japan and are in town for some kind of engineering project (I think). ...

Day 12 - travel to Onomichi - Hiroshima area

... something that will impress me. With that very laid back frame of mind I started gathering my things and pretty much had everything ready to go when our room phone rang at 10:22AM. As I hadn't even noticed that our room had a phone until this moment it came as a bit of a surprise to me. Erika hopped up and grabbed the phone and she says a few sentences in Japanese and then hangs up. She then says "Checkout was at 10AM so ...
