... In the afternoon we went to the Langkawi cable car; built by the Swiss this goes up over the jungle to 708m for breath taking views across the island. The top station has viewing platforms and a suspension bridge over the jungle canopy. We were to be picked up at 8am to be brought to the ferry terminal at georgetown, but apparently the direct crossing to langkawi was going to be too rough so we ended up being brought by minivan back to the mainland on the roadbridge and were driven to the nearest ferry crossing to langkawi thus cutting an hour off the ferry crossing all at no extra cost. the minivan driver was ...

I opted for the Sunset 1 catagory of room, which are closest to the beach, have a very comfortable bed (my barometer for a good hotel room) and a very cool indoor/outdoor bathroom.
