... included Ginette’s much anticipated inflatable kayak, a new solar charge controller, various parts and spares, our new satellite phone, EPIRB, and the kit to hook up the sounder in the dinghy. We then fuelled up, got water and took care of the formalities in Telaga before anchoring in the shallow bay amongst a wide range of boats.

We are getting more confident with our anchoring and we snuck in between several boats and anchored in just 3m of water. The next ...

... of the first two months, our last couple weeks has been a very good balance and we are really starting to enjoy the boat and the lifestyle. The fishing, despite what we’ve heard from other cruisers, has been nothing short of spectacular for us, and we’ve pretty much been living off the sea now plus having a full freezer. The boat is now performing very well and we have a high confidence in her and in ourselves. Even the finicky dinghy is working again (fingers crossed). ...

A beautiful day for messing about on the water

Bryan had seen this trip was very highly rated on trip advisor (99% and No. 1 attraction in Langkawi) so booked it a few days ago. We were definitely looking forward to it and were up and off early to the jetty where they set sail from.

We knew that we would be in a party of up to 10 people so were bracing ourselves and anticipating sharing the day with 8 loud Chinese people as they seem to be the majority of the tourists here.

We finally had that slow day we had been promising ourselves. It was a cloudy morning, so no dawn photography. It was baking hot so we opted for an air conditioned drive up Gunung Raya to see more Spectacled Langurs and Long Tailed Macaques.

We had to return the hire car at 1pm. When we got there the office was closed and no one was around. We realised that the guy was probably at mid-day prayers (they pray at the exact middle of the solar day). I ...

This entry is really just photographs of one of my friends Jeff's boat being launched at the boat yard and a few boats around the yard in Langkawi.

It's a fascinating process which I was pleased to be invited along to see, after a whole refurb which took a few years to do, the boat is now ready ...
