We left Munich and headed west to Stugartt. We had trouble finding an army base which we needed to get to so we could convert US dollars, we were down to our last 90 euro. By 8:30 Pm all were hungry so we found a little German restaurant and attempted to order. We didn’t understand the menu, and some guys at a nearby table …
Another new experience
... of flooding was such that we were not happy to try and drive through the heavy floods to get to the camp. So we knew that there was a site at Equihen-plage. We followed signs and they took us to an aire - just a stopping place with gravel and a water dump and fresh water.
We settled down and let the storm blow over.

The first time on a campsite since I was a teenage
So we poddled along from Canterbury to Dover this morning. We caught the 1230 ferry and sat for 3 hours whilst it fought its way through the weather in the English Channel. The food on board DFDS is not to be recommended.

The shop is closed, the restaurants serves a very limited menu, with healthy food stuffs like
sausages, chips, mushy peas, and mash potatoes. These culinary highlights can be complemented by a lukewarm drink of your own liking, like coke or orange juice.
Still beats swimming, though, so mustn't grumble! And my car has been parked right at the front of the car deck, so mine is the first car to get off the ship, or down with it ...

Also during my time there I volunteered with L'Arche nearby. I started in the gardens where they grow and sell their own vegetables. It was quite hard for me to fit in though as they could only speak French and that I wasn't able to contribute as much as I had hoped too because the people know what they need to do and didn't really need help, so I felt I was in the way more than I was helping.
