... is not something possible for most. We could look over to the balconies of a neighbour cooking his tea in his own wood fired pizza oven and if people don't close their shutters you could look right into their lounge rooms or bedrooms! We had to close our shutters not only for privacy but for noise... it was quite a noisy area and the biggest noise culprits are are the police with their sirens blaring up and down the nearby main street and the drivers ...
... Today was a driving/exploring day. From Menton we drove along the coast to Monaco for a bit of a look. What a disappointment. You can't even
tell when you are in Monaco. It just blends into the urban sprawl. Even
the architecture doesn't change. From movies and books and such, you
expect this fantasyland place of streets paved with gold, magnificent
buildings, and exotic sports cars to be lining the streets. but its not
like that ...
... with this place. For lack of a better word, I'm pretty sure I was having an eye orgasm everywhere I looked.
Anyways, after the 150 or so tunnels we passed through our last one, and halfway in between was the border! We had arrived in France.
The beautiful scenery continued, and after a quick lunch stop we finally we entered Menton through a huge bridge. Menton is simply beautiful, and our hotel, Quality Hotel, is in a great location right by ...
... itself, where there were no street names. After wandering around a bit, we decided to take the car out of the hotel's secure parking, put the street name into the satnav, and drive there. Easy. Except Debbie put 'Saint Jean' instead of 'Rue Saint Jean' in, and before I knew it, I was driving to another part of town some 3 kms away. We finally realised the mistake, changed it to the right address, and sure enough, there it was right next to our hotel, now 3 kms ...
