... here in 1893 during a storm. The captain stayed aboard whilst the crew went for help. It was pulled back into the sea but its anchor was too light and it dragged back onto the beach again and was eventually abandoned there. The captain was later found guilty of negligent navigation and his licence revoked. The rusty remains of the wreck are still on the beach today, with the sea washing over them on a daily basis. We spent a fine day chilling out ...
Dicky Beach, Queensland, Australia jenandtony... it will be time to leave Uncle John and Aunty Ann. Our bellies will be full (had a fry up every morning ;) ) and our batteries fully recharged! We will be heading onto Fraser Island (the largest sand island in Oz) for our 4x4 experience. Loads of Love Natalie and Aidan xxxxx PS forgotten to mention that on Natalie's Greyhound ticket her name is down as Nata due to a typo on my part. Although it is quite fitting!
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia natandaidan...
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... it what direction. It's beautiful, it's a shame because you can't capture what it really looks like on a camera. After we caught our breath we walked back down, and decided on our next stop. The Blue Lagoon. The blue lagoon was gorgeous, although to start with there was loads of people, eventually they left (they must have been a part of a trip) so we had most of the lagoon to ourselves. We had snorkles so snorkled around for a little while before moving on. We ...
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia thai_ler... distance) dolphins, eagles, backpackers and one dead turtle, caught up in a fishing net. Nathaniel got a cold welcome in the surf and from then on was totally freaked out by the water, which was good for us as we didn't have to watch him 24/7. The Mod Con Campor Trailer was everything we could have asked for, queen size bed, room for the kids and when the wind kicked up, we put all the awning walls up and had heaps of room ...
Moreton Island, Australia all4ofus... we walked by her enclosure. The echidnas were hilarious as always, running around on a mission. The zoo itself is really well set up - the enclosures are huge and all the animals seem very happy which isn't always the case. We had a picnic amongst the roos and Will got to know one - Debs enjoyed playing with the baby goats in the kids section and had to be dragged away.
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia willndebs... kuolisi tunnissa hypotermiaan. Me näimme albattrosseja. Ne näyttävät lokeilta mutta ne ovat paljon isompia. Yksi nuori abattrossi oli nielly nälissään isoja maitopullon korkkeja ja tuntemattomia muovikappaleita ja kuollut siihen. Me olimme eilen eläintarhassa. Siellä oli 28 C lämmint, edellisenä päivänä siellä oli 36 C lämmintä. Me n ...
Caloundra, Australia pentti_kotiaho... bill I would have otherwise gotten. The stare of "are you mad, I have no clue what you are speaking of" made me realise that oh it is just Canadian terminology. So all is well here. I will be taking a trip to Fraser Island March 7-9 as part of the induction for international students in the Education program. So I will definitely have something about that later on. Cheers!
Sippy Downs, Australia caroline85... perform a few last minute tasks. We are now all officially out and away from Wallaby Creek, a place I had once hoped to look back at nostalgically, but which now only awakens a general feeling of deception and unfulfilled hopes. Without a doubt I witnessed some wildlife that most humans never get a chance to see, and came to know a wild place, among a shrinking number of wild places worldwide, that I would otherwise never have even visited, except for the ...
Caloundra, Australia mattadorToday was the running of the Melbourne Cup, Australia's version of the Kentucky Derby. To celebrate we did more weeding at Buckley's Hole. At lunch I took a walk on the beach and came upon a huge group of small blue crabs, though I didn't have my camera with me. They move in a sort of pack movement ...
