... wrist. This apparently put a dent in her trip and the hospital in Paris wasn't going to be able to put on a lighter cast for her until Friday so we went ahead and had her come out today and replaced the cast with an ace bandage ourselves. She was a little frightened, but I'm sure her wrist will be okay. The trip here was very pretty and I wish I could have taken pictures but the train was moving too quick to really catch anything. It was my first trip on a ...

Geneva to Paris to Sedan to Bastogne

... sun was setting, and I was pretty tired, so I drove to Bastogne, and checked in to a hotel I like to use there, the Melba. It’s not expensive, right in the center of town, and has free wifi. Bastogne, of course, is where American troops, surrounded by the last-gasp German Arden Offensive (the Battle of the Bulge) around Christmas 1944, refused to surrender. When a German officer was sent in blindfolded to ask the Americans to surrender, General Anthony McAuliffe replied “ ...

... hike and we took the dogs with us. It was very nice. It was a small cascade and it was very quiet and peaceful there. She said in the summertime it is very crowded. I imagine it would be like the waterfalls in North Carolina in the summer.

We got back home and I started working on uploading pictures. I had 5 days to catch up on. We chatted with Karyn while she prepared a dinner of pasta with broccoli ...

City in the trees

Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.

HOME!

... everything is chiuso. United Colours of Benetton, Mel bought a summer coloured blue sweater from OVS. We had coffee in a cute cafe that had an outdoor glass room thing. It was so sad when we had to ignore the gypsie kid begging at our table with that practiced annoying italian dribble in a tone of voice that says I am suffering. Everyone had to ignore him because they know that his mom has, as Carrie would say, pimped out her kid. My third ...

... irritating. What happened was we were supposed to have gotten on bus 9 from gate 6, we had gotten on bus 111. So we rode the 110 bus back to a stop that would get us on a 9 bus. And again we waited for quite a while and when the 9 bus did come, it was packed full so we couldn't have fit on there with all our luggage. So we decided to try to walk to our hostel. This city was so different. Part of it was in a huge gully and the rest of it was up high around the gully ...

Quick Update in Luxembourg

Hey All, We took a short train stop in Luxembourg City on our way through to Brussels. It was a really picturesque city with a green valley and a large fortress... but we spent most of our time in the Internet Cafe writing the last entry! We caught the 7pm train to Brussels to continue our journey!

... Casemates - tunnels and chambers dug to further fortify Luxembourg city. Saw Notre Dame church and walked along the park at the bottom of the valley where we found an old church built into the side of the hill. Luxembourg is a beautiful medieval valley.
