... this side of Vegas more..... maybe I'm getting older and the buzz of the strip is not in my DNA anymore? ... still, it's Vegas! We had made plans to meet my friend Deb and we wander for a bit until she is finished working at the theatre.... few drinks, some Bon Jovi on the street and we finally find Deb! So good to see her!!! Today we woke up early, it was extremely hot. The temperature hit a peak of 107F, around 45C...we left Furnace Creek to visit a bit more the desert, then late in the morning we took the direction of Las Vegas, around three hours distant. The road to get there was very boring, a long straight line in the middle of nowhere. All in a sudden, from distance, we saw the skyscrapers of Vegas emerging from the desert's sand. ...
... quite low and VERY loud. I had accidentally set my camera to 'P' whatever that is and auto-focus did not work so I missed it. Close to the bottom of the valley was a proper paved vista point with several cars parked in it and great views of a ravine that lead down to the lake bed in the bottom of the valley. As I walked towards the ravine I could hear the aircraft and then someone shouted "Here he comes" and the plane appeared less than 100 metres off the ground ...
... He had his signature red bandanna hanging out his pocket just in case a glass needed polishing. We also saw a great psychedelic rock band in Tucson called the Mystic Braves, chatting to the bassist selling merchandise before the gig and seeing him again with his van packed heading out of town the next day.
