    ... s contribution to European unity after WW2. Luxembourg has just assumed the presidency of the EU for the next 6 months, so there were EU flags up everywhere.     ... a beautiful site, and is immaculately manned by the War Graces Commission. As with all the cemetery's, it was a fitting resting place for some many War Hero's. George was my Nana's brother, husband to Eve, and father to Linda.     ... ended up being about 26km long which is pretty intense. Its a bit of a shame that with the discovery of gunpowder, the fortifications of Luxembourg and the city itself as a strategic location became virtually obsolete. I think I read the Prussians were in charge at the time, and they just upped and left to head home one day, such as it was, so the city stopped really developing and really declined in importance, a lot like Toledo was.
