    ... All of the soliders have different faces and hair and stances, it's ridiculous. The tomb was discovered in '74, so it is still being excavated, but the part that was reconstructed is awesome. Pictures later I promise.

    Yesterday we flew to Chengdu and then bussed to Leshan, where today we visited the world's largest Buddha. It is 73 meters high? Sounds about right. As Kaj explains it: the toenails are dinner-table sized. Truth!

    ... they suspected a demon lurked under the water where three rivers met. The locals carved an enormous statue of Buddha at this point to pray to him to placate the whirlpool below. Possibly because the locals threw tons of rock into the riverbed as they carved, the river is now calm. Or was it the Buddha?

    Lunch, outdoors by the river, was followed by a lesson in wonton or dumpling making.
