No.1 Maliandao North Road, Xuanwu District Beijing, China, 100038, 010-51710988
... had a beauty in their abandonment, had an allure in the faces of the older generation with their Zhongshan suits (Mao suits)- quietly picking their way along the country road. It was Halloween, and I was pedaling about in the Chinese countryside- I felt absolutely sensational. The air was crisp, the scenery provoking, and I was at peace… several hills later I came across one of the riders sitting by the side of the road and gazing out into the valley. I approached her cautiously, not ...
Beijing, Beijing, China beijing-jaime... does taste completely foul...comparable to grappa...if anyone has tried that (i think its italian). So we pretty much danced all night and that was that. As westerners, in a club like that, you pretty much get ignored, especially while drinking coke (for all they knew) and for that matter sipping the coke ridiculously slowly because you had poured too much of that rocket fuel into your glass...must have looked pretty strange...good night though and nice to go out with some ...

Beijing, China theresabill... to have many thick layers of clothing on. Our first indication of being in a different set of standards was the complete lack of seat belts in the back of the car; we then played dodgems on the motorway into Beijing. One thing I did notice though was that none of the cars were dented - everything looked pristine despite the interesting driving standards; in Southern Europe an undented car is an anomaly! We were taken to the reception part of our accommodation at the Red ...
Beijing, China tanyaconnor... highrise buildings in the near vicinity of the ship. We docked early and were ready to go ashore to do our own thing for the day fairly early. As we left the ship we were handed a fan and a map by officials from the tourism board and generally made to feel welcome in Korea. We were on the first shuttle that took us to the centre of town about ½ hour away and after much discussion decided between 6 of us that we would explore for a couple of hours and then get a bus tour of some of the ...
Beijing, China kayjays... on a whim seven years ago and fell in love with the place. He got a job teaching English to kindergartners at a private school, an apartment in the trendy French Concession district, and a girlfriend. And even though he was on a visitor's visa he had to renew every year, he considered China his new home. That changed this month. After several frustrating weeks of trying to negotiate China's new visa policies, getting exiled to Hong Kong and failing to gain permission to ...
Beijing, China happysheep... I crossed the Seventeen-Arches Bridge to find myself in need of a map. Not just any map: a stylized, souvenir, map spectacular, is what I needed. Luckily, Beijing laid out a cartographic feast for me and I happily examined each offering. I grew glutinous and reckless, when a hand reached from behind me, grabbed my arm, and wouldn't let go. It was not the hand of a child but of a full grown man, a hand that I could not escape from... At long last, I was to go home and rest ...
Beijing, China matwood... pull through. The most tragic event of the day was in the highly-contested 4 x 100m relay, where it seemd half of China raced. One of the many races was about to start, the runners were ready, the track was clear, the crowds were lining the stands. The starter gives the countdown, then the gun fires and the six lanes of woman runner head out of the blocks. Good starts. Even starts. Except for one. In a lane close to the inner field, the woman in lane two, a short and quite ...
Lijiang, China happysheep... When we left it was about midnight, and the night market had closed, as did most drinking establishments. So i took everyone back to my hostel, which (i didn't get much of a look at anything but my bed earlier) turned out to be a massive hit! The bar area was v v cool, large bottles of beer cost 6 yuan (about 35p), and they had a computer hooked up to a large screen where ppl can just stick on live shows from a very large list or artists! There was also ...
Beijing, China schnitz... 30pm. It'll take another few hours for me to catch up and finish, so we decided to give it up and try again tomorrow after a good night rest. Sigh, I had to give up the trip to the Great Wall to finish this off. I gave a call to Mr. Ming Yu who felt quite bad that because of this mis-communication between him and the school, I had to lose my chance to visit Great Wall. Well, for me, work first, play second. :) J.
