TRAIN #24 ULAANBAATOR TO BEIJING We were all well behaved on this train - no one dared drink too much beer for fear of being locked out of the toilets.... even unlocking them with our Leathermnan wasn't an option because, at the first station in China the train was driven into a 1/2 mile long shed and lifted, carriage by carriage, off of its wheels and onto new wheels. (We believe they call them "bogeys"?). We weren't allowed to get off the train, so we were lifted up inside it. Good job they...

Zhou Qi glanced at him but said nothing. The old woman invited them inside and brought out some wheat cakes. They were black and rough, but hungry as they were, tasted delicious.
"Old woman," said Xu, "I am wounded and am not able to travel. We would like to spend the night here."

Beijing, China mikesblogHaving arrived in Beijing a few days before my tour started, I decided to fit a few extra Beijing sights in. Heading to the seemingly ever popular Lama Temple, I joined with a couple of girls from my dorm room to get to the Confucius temple first. The architecture was unmistakably Chinese, and everything you would expect it to look like. Red buildings stood arranged according to good Fen Shui principles. A museum within the temple was informative about some of Confusious's ...
Beijing, China pricklyleaf... has, to a large degree, solved cash flow issues for air ticket clients. It has greatly also simplified the payment procedures on Lucky Air's B2B website by reducing it from the previous six steps to three and making the payment of the website more accessible. In addition, this will make ticket returns more convenient for clients as the refund can be done real time. Lucky Air said that after the B2C and B2B payment solutions are launched, its direct-sale ...
Beijing, China happysheep... Daniel, who has traveled with us from Beijing, explains that a restaurant is judged by the quality of the centerpieces, that are sculpted by the chef from sugar and other things. After dinner and the numerous toasts that are made (and toasting is not just a few words, but rather a mini speech opportunity) we make our way back to our rooms to turn in for the night. Tomorrow will be another full day.
Beijing, China madameharris... from there I hiked about 20km along the invigorating stretch past 24 watch towers (some of which were crumbling) to Jinshanling and a bit further. This part which was apparently deemed to dangerous for tourist (which I could appreciate due to some of the treacherous paths, steep accents requiring both hands and precarious plummets) where the wall was falling to bits and in some places in rubble. Still, seeing the wall like this and ...
Beijing, Beijing, China markwilliams84... without visiting the Great Wall and this was how we spent our last day. We did a 10km hike from a place called Jinshanling to Simatai. 10km might sound like a stroll in the park but it was tough going with plenty of steep and uneven sections. The views though were unforgettable. Some tips for anyone going to Beijing - if you're going to the opera make sure it's a tourist one. A cat being tortured would probably sound better than Chinese opera singing and at ...
Beijing, China mags_jon... telling me the bus was leaving and I'd have to get to ba da ling by myself, haha. I was kind of angry that they hadn't called me earlier on my cell phone, but then i realized that my cell phone had stopped working... it was out of minutes. My phone likes to run out of minutes at the worst times possible. Since I was going by myself, i decided to chill out a little and went and fixed my phone and got the gameboy for the bus ride ...
Beijing, China emotion... see the 424 km/hr train go whizzing by a couple of times. What took the train 7 minutes and 20 seconds, the van covered in 30 minutes. First stop was lunch, uneventful except for a second spontaneous nosebleed. Once that one was under control we continued to our next stop, the Bund, the best place to see the contrasting faces of old and new Shanghai. On the Shanghai side, the Bund is lined with 100+ year old buildings representing English architecture from 1906 ...
