After spending 2 nights in beautiful Badwell Ash, it was very different getting to seaside Scarborough. Our hotel was high up on a cliff overlooking the sea. When we got there, I knocked and knocked and knocked but nobody answered. Eventually I went down to the basement to speak to a lady through her window. We went to go to Pickering Castle, (girls and I might go over the next few weeks) but ran out of time as we wanted to go on the Horror Tour at York - yep we are trying to terrorize the girls! So far it's not working!

... north of Whitby in Runswick Bay. A beautiful little bay with steep sides and a 12% gradient road going down to the bottom to where the other half of the town was.
