... a gradient of 25%. Both these hills were very narrow with just enough room for two cars. We continued on and eventually found our hotel, after wending our way round Ilfracombe. The hotel is pretty cheerless but only for two nights. We walked down into town to find a meal, the weather is pretty miserable but we have been so lucky so far and tomorrow promises to be ...

We set off tonight to see & hear The Dowlais Male Choir, only to find there was no practice tonight as they had sung at the Mayor's (a former choir member) inauguration. However they were getting a group photo taken, so we at least saw them & had a chat with a few of them. Maybe one day we will get to hear them sing, but unfortunately not on this trip. ...

... Club, a lovely setting with the reception centre overlooking the golf course and rolling Surrey countryside. There must have been around 60 guests, not many that I knew except for the four fellow ex-Greenacre school friends. They were Jill H, Jill C , Heather Clark ( who is a writer of some sort) and Liz Leigh-Breeze. We had a good chat about old times and finding out what everyone had been doing. The 3 course meal was very good. starter was a salmon terrine, then ...
