... Mexico has developed too much and that has spoilt it. That evening we said our goodbyes and left on the shuttle bus which took us to the bus station in Guatemala City. The area around the bus station was really dodgy so we got our bags and went inside the bus station as quick as possible. After asking the shuttle bus driver that we had the wrong bus ticket, and him saying 'no problem' we found out that our bus ticket was for the wrong day, ...

I think everybody has heard something bad about Guatemala City, even if he/she has never been there. It's like with Mexico City - its dangerousness is almost legendary. In case of the latter one, most of the things turned out to be false or exaggerated. We were able to go out by ourselves after nightfall and has never encountered any problems whatsoever. Of course, you have to be smart and don't go to specific areas, but other than that you should be perfectly fine in ...

Antigua is a city one can really feel at home in. The welcoming and friendly people, the beautiful architecture, the vast array of restaurants and the passion for dancing. My second week in Antigua largely followed the same pattern as the first. Mornings start bright and early with a hearty breakfast on the terrace of my hostel and then on to Spanish lessons, in the tranquil garden of my school. ...
