... the foot of the Italian mainland clearly, amazing. After a lovely lunch, we took the cable car back down to the coast and a taxi home, as it was siesta time, so no bus for a couple of hours. We rested up for tea, which as usual was terrific, especially a mussel and clam dish in a seafood broth which was to die for! ... about doing a "tour" around Palermo for a few Euro! After some bartering, we decided to take an "alternative" tour of the sights of Palermo. ... 5.5 million people in Sicily, and most of them appear to live near the ocean, similar to back home. Inland is fairly sparse and unorganised, with lots of unfinished building and "rubbish" lying around. But every now and then you find a couple of gems. I am glad we went up, as this volcano is such an important feature and part of Sicily. Back to Taormina for some tea, before onto the Villa. In the theatre, actors are warned to never work with children and animals. Here's some similar advice for cruising, never visit Messina on a Sunday. Messina is a very religious city and not the largest of cities, so on Sunday there's not a lot open. Just as well there are plenty of things to see in Messina.
