... waiting to welcome us with nurses & a photographer. I enjoyed having my photo taken with a Sarcoma nurse standing up on the back of Lyndsey's bike.

They suggested a good place to go for lunch round the corner, and we parked the bikes up at the restaurant. We were fended off by the manageress before we even got to the door who only begrudginly let us in when she was told of my VIP ...

At the hotel

Back at the St. Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot.
Unfortunately, winter doesn't make this the best place to stay. It's dark when you are at the hotel, so you don't get the views. And the spa doesn't stay open late enough in the winter. At least I will get to enjoy it over the weekend.
And the walk along the coast - kind of scary in the dark. But you do get to see a bunch of stars and parts of the Milky Way because there isn't much light pollution out here.

Getting ready!

OK, here we go again, sat in Lyn's office trying to sort everything out. This year's trip has proved even more complicated to arrange, especially as we're flying out of Gatwick and back into Heathrow. We never like to do things the easy way! Also the dollar hasn ...

With the wedding over, the packing begins...

We woke up in our swanky hotel room the day after our fantastic wedding. We had spent two days celebrating with all of our closest freinds and family. It had been an emotional roller coaster of a weekend (for me anyway) and we were both exhausted... Today was going to be excruciatingly long and hung over!...
Simons only job during the preparation was to organise the honeymoon and keep the destination a secret ...

Horseback riding in Wales

Booked with Clyne Farms to go horse-back riding on the beach. But first we had to get our skills evaluated because when the horses see the wide open expanse of beach, they want to gallop. I was all for this. But it wasn't meant to be apparently. I've never ridden an English saddle before and it's been years since I've ridden a horse. Same with Jacqui. So the instructor said she ...

last day in wales

... day and was nice to walk around the little town with a massive castle in the middle (you would think I would have had enough of castles by now but no they are still cool).

We the stopped off in Callyan (not sure if that's spelt right) which was nice for a change as it actually was a roman stronghold and thus still has some remains from this era. We went and had a look at the roman baths which had ...

more castles....

So our first stop this morning was yet another castle ruins. This was set in the middle of nowhere with lots of sheep about but was quitenice and had good views of the surrounding countryside. The castle was verymuch like all the other castle i have seen before (the name for this one iscastle-y-bere).

We then went to the Eden valley to have a look at the dams which supply thewater to Birmingham. This was a pretty impressive dam and i wandered down tohave a bit of a look ...

After the hills, some hills.

... I was a bit nervous about that as it would cost £2500 to replace the bike.

We wandered around town, had a pint at the Castle Hotel, another at the White Horse then grabbed a table for dinner at the Angel, which proved to be a good choice. I had butternut squash soup and a blue rump steak while Sarah had huge, tasty prawns and a swordfish steak with excellent chips.

Twenty Years..

My birthday is tomorrow!! I'm somewhat surprised to note how excited I am. I was nervous about having a birthday so far from home, but I've met some great people here that I'm glad I have around to celebrate with. (It wont be the same without my family and friends though! ) The plan is to go to frisbee from 2-5 (first outdoor practice!!) then maybe a little celebration with the Frisbee team ...
