Historical Traveler Reviews Bearskin Lodge on the River Hotel Gatlinburg

    Honeymoon with children!!!!

    from

I loved our stay at bearskin. Although we were with our children, it was romantic and cozy. I highly reccommend to all! I was, to say the least, impressed.

    Loved the view

    from

We loved the hotel, and the staff was more than helpful with luggage, etc. and very friendly. The only negative thing was the carpet was dirty. I had my grandchildren in the room running around barefoot and their little feet got so dirty. But awe will stay there again because it was one of the best weve stayed in in Gatlinburg and weve been coming there twice a year for about 30 years. Karen Gregory

    Just The Best for JamFest!

    from

Just The Best!Jan. 3-5, 2003, I was sponsor of a Peewee Cheerleading Squad of approximately 20 and had to make accomodations for the girls and their families to stay in Gatlinburg for the New Year's Jam Jamfest Cheerleading Competition. I did some internet research, some phone calls and received a brochure on The Bear Skin Lodge. Tony was more than helpful and courteous to all of our inquiries. The lodge was absolutely all that I was told it would be! They were also so kind to barricade off an area in the parking lot for our Motorcoach driver so he could easily access parking daily. Now that is service! Rooms had great views, fireplaces and all the necessary amenities and we just loved our view of the river from our balcony. I only wish we had longer to stay and enjoy it. I would highly recommend The Bear Skin and I intend on staying there again Jan. 2-4, 2004 for the New Year's Jam Jamfest again. Thanks guys!

    My Best Hotel Experience, Ever!!!!!!!

    from

We had originally booked another hotel but switched hotels when we saw The Bear Skin Lodge on our way in. The rooms were extremely clean and well taken care of. The housekeepers were anonymous, and the staff was more than willing to help with anything. After we leaving we decided that we wanted to stay there for our honeymoon, so in October me and 15 other guests will all be staying there because we me and my fiancee cannot stop raving about the excellence of the hotel. I hate hunting and my fiancee loves it! The decor was well matched with the name but not so over powering that it made me uncomfortable. All in all this was the best hotel that I have ever stayed in, literally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks, Jessica Blakely

    Great place to stay!

    from

This is by far the best place in Gatlinberg to stay! Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly. You can't go wrong with this one!

    Wonderful!

    from

Very clean with friendly employees, nice pool and lazy river. Nice decor, and, most importantly, comfortable beds. Every other hotel we've stayed at in Gatlinburg has mattresses that are like concrete slabs, but Bearskin is very comfortable. Also right next door to our favorite steak place in Gatlinburg, the Peddler.

    Excellent Stays

    from

My family and I have been traveling to Gatlinburg several times a year for over 3 decades. In that time, we have stayed at almost every motel/hotel there. As hotels age, they will usually have a corresponding decline in service/cleanliness and this keeps us moving around. Right now, the Bear Skin is absolutely the best place to stay in Gatlinburg. A nice plus is the proximity to The Peddler restaurant.

    Great Place in Town

    from

We don't usually stay in Gatlinburg, but decided to try this place for a weekend stay so we could go hiking. The room was great. Very spacious and decorated very well. The fireplace was a great extra touch! The only down side is that your view is of the hotel on the other side of the river, but I would still stay here again since it was nice to be on the edge of town (light # 10) and walk around at night after a day of hiking.

    Love at first sight

    from

Love the style of the motel. Rooms on the river are great.

Today we drove to Cades Cove in Smoky Mountain National Park. Because it was through the mountains, the road was slow but picturesque. We stopped at a picnic area for lunch, then continued on towards the Cades Cove loop. Part way along the loop, we hiked to the Abrams Falls. About a 5 m hike ...

Today we drove through the center of the park. We did a short trail walk in the afternoon and then headed to Clingman's dome (6643ft high) for sunset - around 5:30. There were snow banks on the sides of the road as we drove up to Clingman's dome trailhead. At times along the way, you would see little snowmen that people would have built. They had an early snowfall 2 days ...

... 8217;s not shown on any maps. But this time, I had a GPS waypoint and we were determined to get it. We started off by hiking up Hyatt Ridge Trail. It was still cold when we started our hike and I was wearing a sweatshirt to stay warm. Hyatt Ridge Trail is quite steep and it wasn’t long before I paused to delayer. The trail leads for just under two miles to the intersection with Enloe Creek Trail and ...
