    ... Barlands' shot. I had walked about 25 km and was thirsty and almost out of water and to make things worse I was at the base of the Dowdswell Dam which supplies water for the biggest town around. But no taps. Bad. I passed a fountain in the grounds of some grand manor house but still no tap. Worse. Then I come across this sign! Almost too much. But happy ending I found a cider. Everything looks better through cider eyes (so I put the last photo in for everyone except me!).

    ... and 24 hours later she stopped sulking. However the weather was so atrocious and the forecast equally miserable. After three days of alternating between the tinyness of the camper and the warmth and comfort of the campsite cafe that was diminished only by the massive growling German Shepherd, we took advantage of the wonders of the internet to find out where was less rainy.

    ... of the local sites. Back on the train to Stroud and it was time for me to receive some visitors. My 2 Aussie friends arrived,(Pauline and Janine) and they were here for a 2 nights before going for a trip to Cornwall.While they were away, Maggie and Paul from Spain came to stay.     Arrived Heathrow at lunch time and used my British passport to get through immigration quite quickly and on to a bus that took me to Gloucester.There I took a local bus (a very scenic route that took ages!) to Stroud,where a short taxi ride found me at my house.By now it was dark and I was a bit anxious about finding the key hidden in a prearranged place in the garden....but there it was!.
