... and some buildings dating back to the 1870's. Next stop was the elephant seal sanctuary. This is a great pull out. You can walk for a ways on either side of the pull out and observe the elephant seals. There is also usually a docent available to explain about the seals, as well as plaques explaining what you are seeing. We saw lots of younger seals, sparing and chatting. It was quite noisy. But the wind was blowing the right way ...
Morro Bay, California, United States travelingma... was out and I was shooting pics.
As the sun went down in the cloud streaked sky, the temperatures quickly dropped. We made our way back to the town of Morro, stopping for fish and chips at Giovanni's Fresh Fish Market. Mom insisted she was really hungry so we each placed an order, although I told her we could share (I have eaten here before). You get five big pieces of cod in a batter that is enough there to let you ...
Morro Bay, California, United States travelingma... we went through Monterey and the 17 mile drive and stopped in at carmel for lunch. when we come back we will have a week just to really see these places. so onto san Lius Obispo but the road was so windy(but spectacular) we didn't quite make it. hence our stop in Cayucos. it is just about 1/2 way between San Fran and LA and very beautiful. the weather is really warm, high 20's with very low humidity. so ...
Cayucos, California, United States loopyl00We had a brilliant night in our tent. It was the perfect climate, and the perfect surroundings.

We did not visit the Cracked Crab for lunch after all. I did not think it was reasonable to have such a large, pricey meal for lunch! I did however get the best clam chowder from Splash's Cafe! I have had too many clam chowders since we arrived on the coast at San Francisco, and this was by far the best!!!!
Pismo Beach, California, United States zwergliazrael... simply gorgeous.

Once again, we aimed for a sunset, but were once again denied by the clouds.

Our campground is not exactly in the town centre, but not far either (by our standards). It is about ½ hours walk to the town centre, so we decided to walk in, rather than drive.

Our choice for dinner was Giuseppe's, an Italian restaurant. Make no mistake... my choice would’ve been the Cracked Crab, where everyone wears a silly bib to tuck into their crab. As we ...
Pismo Beach, California, United States zwergliazrael... for free.....albeit at 10am!!! Apparently, the bartender made a couple too many!

We gobbled down our breakfast and rushed to the boat to ensure that we got there with plenty of time to spare for registration. Typically, our take-off was delayed by ½ hour by a “party of 6” who kept calling to say they’d “be there in 5 minutes”. The captain held out for them, but any more than ½ hour was too much to wait, so we ...
Morro Bay, California, United States zwergliazrael... afforded great views during the day. Their special was their "naked" fish, which is a selection of premium fish, cooked without any sauces. Azrael had a Pacific swordfish with garlic mashed potatoes and I had a Hawaiian Ono with seasoned fries, and we had ½ dozen oysters on a half shell to share as a starter. The oysters were simply fantastic! Big, fat, succulent and juicy! I could have easily ordered another portion!!! My ...
Morro Bay, California, United States zwergliazrael... area. All of the houses are of a similar style with a italian/mexican feel and colour. Michael Jackson had his trial here a few years back so that shows the status of the town. Also helps understand the prices for everything to. Back on the bus we travelled what seemed a short distance (maybe David slpet too?) to Pismo Beach. We didn;t know at the time but the tour company had never used this hotel before so they were a little nervous. No need to worry ...
Pismo beach, California, United States david.mackeyAnother beautiful day in Pismo Beach, CA. I had to run out to do a voiceover this morning. While I was gone, the boys did some schoolwork. When I got back the 3 of us went down on the beach and played football together while Kelly worked on reservations for northern CA. We were planning on renting ATV's and riding on the beach, but by the time we got down there it was too late. So instead, we walked down to the pier and the boys watched a guy who was doing some incredible ...
Pismo Beach, California, United States thesteeles... but we decided to brave it. Then we discovered that they were only serving a special (read: expensive) Father's Day menu, and that there was no dim sum. We left, disappointed. Instead, we ended up going down the block to a chinese place, Yang Chow, that specializes in "slippery shrimp". Basically, deep-fried, breaded shrimp in a spicy sweet and sour sauce. Yum. The restaurant was packed and there was a line, so we ...
