You can walk for a ways on either side of the pull out and observe the elephant seals. There is also usually a docent available to explain about the seals, as well as plaques explaining what you are seeing. We saw lots of younger seals, sparing and chatting. It was quite noisy. ... we went through Monterey and the 17 mile drive and stopped in at carmel for lunch. when we come back we will have a week just to really see these places. so onto san Lius Obispo but the road was so windy(but spectacular) we didn't quite make it. hence our stop in Cayucos. it is just about 1/2 way between San Fran and LA and very beautiful. the weather is really warm, high 20's with very low humidity. so ...

We had a brilliant night in our tent. It was the perfect climate, and the perfect surroundings. <br><br>We did not visit the Cracked Crab for lunch after all. I did not think it was reasonable to have such a large, pricey meal for lunch! I did however get the best clam chowder from Splash's Cafe! I have had too many clam chowders since we arrived on the coast at San Francisco, and this was by far the best!!!!<br>
