A Winter Wonderland - in Florida!?
... our way back home, we stopped at the Anastasia Amphitheater, which has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland for the upcoming Holiday season, including an outdoor ice-skating rink, many beautiful lights and decorations, sleigh rides (pulled by tractors, rather than horse-drawn!), and of course, with Christmas music overall. Very pretty, well-done, and the temps dropped far enough down that we felt as though it could snow any minute!

A Day in Saint Augustine
... Youth! We were all hoping to sample the water hoping for the best. The park where the Fountain is, is where the explorer Juan Ponce de Leon landed in 1513. They claim that St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied US city. Wether it was or wasn't it was a very interesting historical stop! Florida is rich in spanish history. From the ...
Making the most of Orlando (Part 2)
... felt like it was 45 minutes - especially since I had cocked the landing up!! Brilliant! I went to the restroom after that just to check if my pants were clean and whether my face had returned to normal. All was good. If my feet weren't so sore, I would honestly have gone and stood for another 45 minutes to do it again. It was starting to get dark outside and I had read in my Epcot map that there's an engineering ride design you can do in the other ...

Camping Weekend
We camped at Anastasia with at least 8 other families that are friends (very fun to camp with so many other people you know - I'm worried now that we can never go back to camping just as our family - the girls will be too bored with no friends to play with, and no other adults to chat with at the campfire... ;) We had GORGEOUS weather, couldn't have been better (not too cold or hot at night so we were comfortable, but still got warm enough during the day so ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Beacher's Lodge Saint Augustine
We return every spring break!
We are a family of five that has been coming to Beachers year after year. Sure the first floor rooms don't have a direct view of the Ocean but the dunes are a wonder in themselves. The beach is lively and the sand the best. Great swimming for the kids because the Ocean does not get extremely deep immediately. We love the location, family friendly and the staff are long time employees and are wonderful. We live in the North and get five months of snow so our "Beachers" vacation is our therapy.
The BEST
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
The room was clean and nicely decorated. It was also well equipped. We stayed in a studio, which is the least expensive/elaborate room and I was still very impressed. The room had a TV with built in VCR, a DVD player, CD player, ministove, minifridge, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. The staff was very kind, friendly and helpful. The hotel has a prvate beach gate, as well as a heated pool.
I look forward to visiting again. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the St Augustine area.
Playing favorites?
I had guests coming down for a family reunion and the accomadations were nice but the beach in front of the accomadions is like a highway lots of traffic and the police were in evidence everywhere, but the drunks were too, the hotel is right near the beach ramp, and althe places there serve booze
and the place they sent us to eat should have advertised liquid meals, aren't there any restaurants that are not full of drunks I like a drink but not places noted for their drinks
Beacher Lodge
I would only recommend this lodge if you stayed on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th level rooms. All of those have great views of the ocean. We unfortunately placed on the 1st floor with no view. It still wasn't bad. Nice, easy walk to ocean/beach. The kitchen amenties are nice and can help keep costs down by cooking and eating in.
We had fun
We had a great time. The employees are very helpful and had a friendly attitude, gave great advise on places to eat. We stayed in one of the studio's on 2nd floor. It was a nice room. We really enjoyed the beach and pool. Thanks for a great vacation. St. Augustine is a fun place to go.
Loved the 4th floor view
My wife and I stayed at Beachers Lodge for a nice vacation. It is close to St. Augustine. The view is spectacular during Sunrise and just as beautiful during sunset, which can only be viewed from the 4th floor.
We stayed in a newly renovated unit with a new kitchen and a new extra pull out sofa. The room even had a CD music stereo.
The stay was very affordable and we will definitly return.
Best place ever
we planed a long weekend in florida while visiting in georgia and wound up staying a week. if people would read completley a web page they would see it aint all ocean front veiws. we liked the fact they allowed pets and it made our stay nice cuase we could go to marineland and leave the dogs in the ac comfort of the room. we'll be back next year for sure
Bad Choice
We were led to believe from their web that all rooms were ocean front view. Well, they are not and the room they gave us was certainly not. When you opened up the drapes on the sliding door the view is completly blocked by a very large dune. That was bad enough but worse was the beds in the unit we had. No one was able to sleep because they were so uncomfortable. Needless to say, we check out the next morning but did not get any compensation for the bad night. The Beachers Lodge is a condo type and units are rented by the owners through the site. When I was checking out I also heard other lodgers complaining about their rooms. It is ashame, the location is just a little south of St. Augustine Beach and would be a great place, location wise, to visit St. Augustine and enjoy the beautiful beach. I will not go back.
Peace and Quiet
The rooms were nothing to write home about, however, with the beach only steps away, who cares if your bed is turned down with a mint on the pillow each night. The rooms are reasonable priced. It easy access to everything and during the week you practically have the beach to yourself..All in all a good place to stay
True Oceanfront View at Beacher's Lodge
Beacher's Lodge is one of the few hotels in St. Augustine that can truly say they are oeanfront. The ocean view is spectacular! Be sure to get up early one morning to catch the sunrise!
