... there once were schools of hammerhead sharks, reef sharks, tonnes of turtles and schools of fish. But after fisherman have had their way, most of this is all gone. It’s sad to hear these stories and and we can only hope that there is a change coming to protect these waters.

Never heard of Corn Island, used to be called The Skeleton Islands (of buccaneering fame where pirates feared to be shipwrecked because of the fierce natives who liked to eat pirates marinated in coconut oil.
... other dives I've done so far have been a maximum of 6 minutes from shore. I've thoroughly enjoyed all of my dives so far (Can you tell?) and I have to wonder, what could be so much better about this site?
We split up into 2 boats and race to the site. Geared up we Jacque Cousteau into the water and head down. WOW - I am overwhelmed. I'm not sure what I want to look at first, the vast range of aquatic life ...

After dinner we head down to the pier to look for the local eagle ray. Marianne had heard rumours of him swimming near the light and had actually spotted the spotted ray earlier this week. Eagle rays are apparently attracted to light and in addition to the light at the pier, we brought our trusty torches (look how European I'm getting) ...
