... grounds is prohibited, but the East gardens of the Imperial complex is open to the public, so we made the most of this. The gardens are picturesque in all the ways you`d expect of a Japanese garden: calm, with a small waterfall flowing into a pool of brightly coloured carp. All this with Tokyo`s impressive urban centre towering in the background, you get a real sense of Japan present and past wandering in the gardens.
Ginza is Tokyo`s answer to Oxford street. We headed there on ...

I walked on to the diorama they made from a couple of big Japanese cities, with trains running on the tracks and stopping at several stations. I tried to film it but one of the guards came up to me and said it was not allowed to clamp my tripod around the guard rail. After apolizing to me for ...

Ito Arrival

A travel blog entry by canadiansmiley on Oct 29, 2013

Ito is a laid back city with lots of onsens. I stayed at the K's House hostel. It's 2900¥ but very nice place to stay and it has a onsen which one can explore. The hostel used to be a hotel and it dates back to 100 years ago. Very old wooden structure. Quite an experience for couple of nights. To get here it took me most of the day. It was two train rides and 5 hours of travel. Relaxed in the bath and have a good night ...
