Arrival and our apartment
Well I can never say my life is boring. Eddy and I left Canberra at the end of June for three years in Abu Dhabi and my feet have hardly hit the ground. Eddy on the other hand has settled in at a leisurely pace. We arrived in Dubai around 5.30am in Dubai after a seventeen and a half hour flight. The temperature was 35 degrees, 41 degrees at 11.00am …

Stopping over in Abu Dhabi

The emirate’s population, now over 1.6 million, is growing at an average annual rate of 4.7%. Across the UAE, Emirati citizens make up nearly 20% of the total population; the other 80% are expatriates from …

Historical Traveler Reviews Beach Rotana - Abu Dhabi
Cattle market
Well recently just got back from our meant to be relaxing break away and also discided that abu dhabi would be a good choice to Dubai for once, how wrong i was, i found the staff very to happy to help but the mood was no as we aspected what looks good on the inside is not always what looks good on the outside, we had been in the hotel less than 20 mins waiting for our room to be ready when my husband was approached by some women claiming to give massage at 1am in the morning with me sittting there i found this shocking, i looked at the front desk as to do something with a turn away effect. It did not stop there we discided to try out one of the popular night spots in town and found to be like what can be described as a cattle market with lots of these women lining up to approach my husband, i descided to go to the manager and discuss this issue with him and was thrown back by well if you do not like it then well don't come and then he carried on in the DJ booth which was veryu misleading to employ a DJ as manager anyway i do not mean to sound on this one topic but this as a women got my back up to what cannot be described.
On the hole the facilities are there but women protect your husbands because i was not the first 1 to point this out during our stay. We then decided to use the beach which is quite small but for 2 young children was good enough to play, we was told that the weekend is friday so we thought it would be busy which it was my husband disappeared to the toilet to be approached by some male local who seemed to be nice by offering me a drink which i refused nicely then he asked me how much i charged and how good i look, out of this whole holiday people should be warned that abu dhabi is like a sesspool of what can be described as --- fest and this hotel encourages it to which i have seen to the time i stayed there..
Unforgetable weekend
We were there for 2 nights and very satisfied - eversince we stepped in the hotel ! Great service and nice room for the weekend package we got from the hotel. The staff there are friendly and always helpful. Peter ( from Germany), if you are reading the post, I'd like to say a big thank you for the great time !
Fabulous luxury & top service
If considering, I strongly advise you book the executive floors "Club Rotana" deal to stay in the towers section. Advise also that you book their own limo service from the airport. It's very good value at about $20 and they will meet & greet you, take your luggage etc. You briefly check in, then are then whisked upstairs and shown to the Club lounge where you relax and are given free drinks - a nice start!
Club Rotana is more expensive, but includes such a great breakfast we never needed lunch! Plus much bigger rooms, the private Club Rotana lounge with free soft drinks & booze (booze free 7-10pm only) all mean that it can work out cheaper, especially if you drink like we do! The bigger rooms are also better appointed have better facilities (whirlpool bath, marble showers) , and you get 3 (count 'em) housekeeping visits a day! Service was superb, superb, superb. The mainly Filipino/South Indian service staff were professional & courteous, going the extra mile when needed. We have stayed at many top 5* places around the world, and this was the best overall in terms of room and service. That's some recommendation as we have pretty high standards. The hotel is also directly next door to the very upscale Abu Dhabi Mall & has it's own entrance direct, so you never need to leave the air-con!
Will return!
Excellent value for money. This hotel has now been completely refurbished and is very well appointed. The service was very good from every part of the hotel. Upon arrival our cases were given VIP priority and prompt service from check in. Best choice of breakfasts I have ever had in any 5 star hotel (but go early for freshest hot food). Great location to shopping mall next door. Great restaurants in the hotel to indulge in quality food (approx £50-65 meal for 2 without wine) but Lobster at Finz eaterie is fantastic and worth every penny! If on a budget eat at the Mall - £8 is a meal for 2 and excellent value too. A great hotel for sun and shopping. Plus only an hour drive to Dubai. Recommended.
Dissapointing
What can I say. My family and I went to this hotel in Oct 2004 and I have to say we were all very dissapointed! After a long wait for our rooms we finally got our keys to find nicely decorated rooms but very small with hardly any storage space at all. So much so we lived out of our suit cases. Having visited Dubai on many occasions we thought we would try Abu Dhabi for a change and my advice DONT BOTHER! We visited during Ramadan and I would recommend anyone NOT to go during this time. I had my bag searched while walking to the pool just in case I had water or food in there!!! The beach is very small and nothing special at all. Service was very slow and poor, rooms still not made by 5pm, not enough clean towels..the list is endless. I am not one to complain but I really had to write this as I want you to think twice...my advice GO TO DUBAI!!!!
Very good
my friends and i have just returned from this hotel. The hotel it's self was first class always imacculate and the staff friendly. However the pool and beach staff were not so good. We had to wait a while for drinks and they did not clear away emptys very quickly. Other than that the hotel was faultless.
The building work is stiil going a head and if you are staying in the beach rooms, as this is where all of the work is occuring. I reccomend you upgrade to the tower rooms, which have much better facilites and a nice view. The all inclusive package is a good offer, if you drink alot and the buffets are very enjoyable. However you do get an allowence to eat in the other restaurants on the complex which are a must. Especially fins for the seafood lovers out there.
One other problem is that the u.a.e are in morining for the loss of thier president at the moment, so there is no entertainment at all. No music no nothing, even the lights on the buildings by the cornish are not illuminated. This was very disapointing to myself and my friends, however we did not let it spoil our holiday.
A must stay
My wife and I have just returned from a week in this hotel which was really 1st class. Apart from the internal building works going on, (these should be finished by end Nov 04) we have absolutely no complaints. The hotel accepted that the noise from the works was unacceptable and upgraded us to the tower block, which surprise surprise was even better then our original room. Eating in the hotel can however prove expensive. I would recommend going to the DANA Hotel which is a 5 minute walk away. The evening buffet cost 45 dhrm and is comparable to Rotana buffet which cost 90 dhrm.
All in brilliance!!
We found this hotel on the off-chance in the paper, going all inclusive.
We pulled up outside the imposing towers amist top of the range Bentleys, Mercedes and BMWs. The lobby was impressive and the check in very efficient, including hand towels to freshen up!
You may think going "all in" would be a mistake because the food can be a bit dodgy, you could not be further from the truth! We were surprised to find that the hotel resturants are extremely popular with the locals (which is a telling sign!) The all inclusive buffet meals were of the highest quality and wide variety. The dishes were changed regularly, nothing left out. The drinks were all brand names, and all served from the can, or bottle (beer), and yes... the wine was from a bottle too!!
The extensive gym, tennis courts and squash courts were all included as well.
The staff (from the managers to the cleaners) were always very attentive, friendly and nothing was too much hassle.
Do not think this is just another review by someone who does not travel much as I have stayed in numerous 5 star hotels including Sheraton, Hiltons and Four Seasons and they really could learn a thing or two from these guys!!
The only complaints we had (and we thought long and hard!) was the swimming pool tiles were a bit rough on our feet. Thats it!
We also spoke to other guests staying there, who were bed and Breakfast. The cost of food and drinks really added up.
Great Location and Luxury Surroundings
Best hotel in Abu Dhabi by far. Most luxurious surroundings and service.
Very modern hotel that is recently opened. The Italian restaurant serves great food and they have great watersports facitlities.
In addition, it is located next door to Abu Dhabi Mall with a walk way through. Ideal for those wanting to shop while on holiday. Highly recommended.
