Sleeping-in in SE Asia has proved to be a very difficult thing to do. No, it's not because of the noise or the heat, but because the beds are as ***********crete. Usually by 6 AM, my extremities are numb and I'm in more pain than I was when I went to bed. We long for the comfort of our bed back home--even if we have to share it with two needy wiener dogs.
All that said, we had a fairly late start to the day--lazy beach mentality has already overtaken us. After breakfast, we walked down...
... was fair so off we went. They were friendly and helpful and took us to the border. Once through customs and back on the bikes we headed off.<br>The road on the Cambodian side was a clay sludge with as many deep (6") potholes as flat bits. It was like doing a grueling motocross for the next hour and a half. We survived!!! Whilst a pretty wild ride the scenery was magnificent. Bright green rice fields as far as you could see, tall pink lilies in full ...

Sihanoukville, Cambodia simon_charlise... the pesky mosquitoes, we couldn't rid ourselves of the constant beggars and hagglers on the beach. The next day, we found a comfy spot on the beach to lay out, listen to the waves and sunbathe. Except that all we really heard was, "Ladyyyy, you like manicure....ladyyyyy you buy fruit....ladyyyy you buy bracelet from me???" We were constantly startled by kids and women approaching us to sell goods or offer their services. After about an hour or so of this, we headed ...

Sihanoukville, Cambodia spirityufo... off in search of information on Bamboo Island, which lonely planet had listed as bungalows for $8/night. knowing that the listed LP prices have a way of being lower than reality, and that especially when looking for quiet seclusion it can be the wrong way to go, i was very intrigued by a couple of posters advertising other islands. one offered a full-on desert island experience, a jungle camp with no power or running water where you had your choice of sleeping in a ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia moonrise... It was not bad, but not great. The rain has stopped, but it is still overcast. We went to our hotel bar to watch the F1 race in Bahrain. We had nachos with chili, fajitas, draft beer, soda and water for $21. Just after the start of the race I went to the internet cafe. There was a fan on over my head to keep me cool, but it was a pain with trying to read my notes. Bill went back to the room after the race and I joined him shortly afterward. We were both asleep by 10.
Sihanoukville, Cambodia theresabill... them signed that Pete was very drunk and stumbling about! We played them at pool and one of the girls, wearing a vest top thing, was realllllly aggressive. If she missed a shot she smashed the cue on the table and screamed. So who gets paired up with her in doubles... moi. An experience, but it was quite interesting to try and communicate without any words at all. They were really nice though and they headed to the beach but we stayed for a few more Angkors in Utopia. Pete was ...
Shianoukville, Cambodia comedyad... there as it was significantly quieter. Depends on what you like. Looking back, we actually managed to spend 8 days there and I don;t really remember what we did. Hmmmmm. I think I might have been having too much fun. We also tried some diving (2 dives at $65). However, the coral was mostly grey and the majority of things to see were teeny tiny which was a shame. The most interesting ...
Sihanoukville, Cambodia leannemedland... so would be much cheaper by now.'<br>No comment.<br>I didn't have such camera trouble on other traveling jaunts as I'd had on this trip.<br>Johannes drew my attention to a frog perched on top of a wooden cross beam, staring at us.<br>We took some photos of the slimey crouchy reptile, although I think this was before I'd had my camera taken.<br>The only other thing of note was the lurking tuk tuk drivers accosting me, asking if I wanted 'Lady Bum Bum.' <br><br>
