So, hangover is in full flow. Have to check out of hostel at 10 - but Ive been awake since 5 due to drinkage of red bull and jaegermeister (jaegermonster...). Took a walk round Hollywood Blvd, saw the sign on the hill! That was cool, tiny but cool.

Today we said goodbye to Jim and Syl and headed to SLO airport to fly back to LAX. We boarded a tiny plane that only held 32 passengers and which Summer could not fully stand up in - one hour later we were in LA. After a quick change at Erin's we headed down to the beach for some fun in the sun. The girls ...
... go when one of Clayton's clients came in for a short visit and said he could take me to Venice Beach ( he lives on the beach front ). He dropped me off and I walked the Venice strip. Quite a nice walk. Stopped by the skatepark too, and watched a bike film being made. After that I needed a swim so decided to walk all the way through to Santa Monica pier, all the way stopping every 100 meters to jump back in the water. Anyway, made it too Santa Monica Pier ...
... so much cool stuff. I bought a 20" circular double sided reflecting screen so we can have more fun in poor lighting conditions. The cool thing is Yang actually likes visiting camera stores so its not a case of looking around for ages while my wife looks on bored out of her mind, impatiently waiting to leave.

... br> I have been looking for a new watch since I arrived and after trying on a million different ones, had finally decided on 3 options - all from Michael Kors. So when I looked up and saw a Michael Kors shop, I decided on the spot that this was the place to buy it. Luckily they only had one of the three options so my decision was made for me. Too funny walking in and having the shop assistant give you her rude 'can I help you?' Then, the total turn around, being ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Beach House at Hermosa Beach
Loved the beach house
My wife and I along with 2 children stayed for 1 night and I can't even begin to describe how wonderful this place is, front desk was great along with the view, definitly breathtaking.
What a hotel, A++
What a hotel! I was very suprised to find such a luxury hotel in Hermosa. Better than the Ritz! The hotel staff, more-over the Front Desk was great. We will be back again and again. Thank you for such a nice weekend!
The best in S. CA beachfront
Absolutely the best for a Southern CA beachfront retreat. Reserve your room early, and be sure to ask for an oceanview room. A hop over a low wall from a ground floor room has you across the strand and on to Hermosa Beach or if you'd rather people watch, the Strand is the place. Great restaturants, bars, and trendy shops are in the area, and the entire hotel staff from the manager to the maids are friendly and will do their very best to make your stay enjoyable.
Love the Beach House & nearby Mediterraneo restaurant
We love the Beach house - great location, great room - very romantic. Also, try the Mediterraneo on the strand. The food was great, and so was the service. The Irish pub on the corner had such terrible service that we left & went to Mediterraneo, which was so good that we went back for lunch the next day!
Come to Hermosa
'Hermosa' is the Greek word for Love and when you stay here you too will fall in love, friendly staff, nice rooms and not far at all from the beach also within a easy walk to beautiful Manhattan beach.
While making arrangements to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at the Beach House in Hermosa (last April), I was asking the manager about the different views and room rates. When he heard it was our 25th anniversary - he not only acknowledged the special milestone, he automatically upgraded us to an ocean view room!! He also suggested excellent restaraunts and things to do and see in the area. He was genuinely happy to provide information that allowed us to plan a truly memorable anniversary.
Loved this hotel
Spent 3 nights here in January prior to a cruise from LA to Sydney. A great place to unwind and recover from jet lag--right on the beach and the excellent path for jogging and walking. Continental Breakfast (included) was excellent and you could either eat in the breakfast room or carry it back to your room. Nice set up for heating up take-out food or making tea/coffee. Excellent bed, roomy area for watching tv (2 tvs!). Hermosa is very laid back and has some good restaurants--very close to Manhattan Beach for a bit more lively nightlife. Staff was very helpful. We had a room with a partial view of the ocean but if money is not an object I would go for the full view.
From what I've heard, this is the best place in Hermosa Beach. We were visiting a friend in Hermosa and just spent two nights there.
One Great Place
No reservations, had never heard of the place, just wandering through and literally ended up at its front door. Went in to check rates, not cheap, but well worth every penny. Had a bed I could hardly get out of it was so comfortable, and the bathroom was big enough for a couple to use at the same time. The living room and fireplace added an extra oomph to the evenings on the deck overlooking the ocean. No doubt this is the place to stay. And the attendants were just as nice as the room and stay. (Reminded me of the W hotels)
Everything about this hotel is wonderful. The valets were all more than helpful and nice, the front desk staff was superb, the room was beautiful. We could not have asked for a better experience. If we had it to do again, we'd stay there without hesitation.
