... we met up with our new pals Peter and Hetty once more and went for dinner in 'Le petite bistro' just a few hundred yards up from the marina it was nice to eat out for a change and the food and service was good. They are staying in Guernsey for a few more days but we really need to get across Biscay so I think we'll head off tomorrow, there is no wind forecast so conditions hopefully will be fine for ...

I heard about Guernsey's history right from the time of William Rufus (William the Conqueror but before the Battle of Hastings) up to the German Occupation in WWII. This is still very much thought about, and they have a holiday on May 9, the anniversary of the day they were liberated by the British. This year was the 70th anniversary and I think they went overboard on it. I also learned a bit about the Bailiwick of ...

... and shocked everyone with her skill and ability.

Well, you can imagine Kate and Roy took great delight in letting us know how resoundly they beat us so there was nothing else we could do except bundle them in the car and head off to the beach to take their minds off the thrashing.

We visited two beaches today. The first was the nearby beach of Hauteville, where we spent a lovely hour or so wandering ...
