Hello All. We have really enjoyed our stay in Brownsville, TX to visit Jerry's parents. We don't see them often and it is always bittersweet when the visit nears an end.

We went out for a casual dinner with the parents and Jerry's brother, Juan, and wife Vivian. Then it was back to the hotel to begin packing up our belongings.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaIt is always a must to spend some time on South Padre Island. SPI is located about 20 minutes from Brownsville. Alex now knows about the "beach". He did not want to leave.

This was the girls first visit to the beach. They thought it was okay, but would have ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States hollyesparza... Padre Island to have dinner at Amberjack's. I had a fabulous surf 'n' turf dinner with filet mignon and Alaskan King Crab legs...yummmm!!

Dinner took a long time to arrive at our table, so of course dessert was on management. Don't worry...I did not partake of the sinful decadence.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaIt was a quick trip to Brownsville, TX from Saint Hedwig. The shortest leg of our journey so far. We stopped at Tacqueria Jaliscos for a lunch break. This is our traditional stop whenever we make the trek between San Antonio and Brownsville. The food is always better than I remember from the previous visit.

As soon as we arrived in Brownsville, we headed straight to Jerry's parents house to say hello before checking into the Residence Inn for our week-long stay.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaThe day has finally arrived. Mille and I are not sure how to feel knowing what we are getting ourselves into in the natural, but the conclusion I've come to is this:
I'd rather be in the will of God.
I'm not sure if this is even really happening, and we don't even have "specific" direction! Just GO. The plane to Brownsville was a tiny ...
Brownsville, Texas, United States robandmillie... one way back in the bar area, and that was cool because it offered a great view of the bay on both sides. The bartender, Kellie, was also our waitress. We ordered drinks and appetizers- Lila had fried mushrooms and I ordered the fish ceviche. Lila's mushrooms were tasty sliced portobello caps but suffered from a very heavy breading, most of which she simply peeled away. The ceviche was cold and the fish tasted very fresh ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States mjphoto... take my money so I got to camp for free. I ended up meeting these kite surfers there and we had a few drinks and ended up making our own little band. 1 you-ka-lay-lee, 2 drums, a dij-ery-doo, and a easter egg with beads in it. What a great time! Oh, I thought this was kinda funny. The last meal I had in the US was at Mc Donalds and the first meal back in the US was at Burger King.
South Padre Island, Texas, United States macrosse1...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States lavidanueva... s our next destination. I am currently trying to work with the friendly folks of www.Ozontravel.com (Hi Karen!) to figure out what a good next kite destination could be. We're totally flexible of course so if anybody hears of a good airfare deal to Brazil or Australia or anywhere else, just let us know, so we can continue to Follow The Wind! Until then! Ciao! - Philipp & Mariela
South Padre Island, Texas, United States globekiter... 19 net, so things like this carry weight when you’re on a budget. Greyhound’s not especially costly, but long and slow. This is the age of hitch-hiking, too, back when you’d 'go hitch-hiking’ just for fun, but a cheap flight once in a while is a luxury.
