    Today we headed off to Arthur and our much anticipated visit with the Amish. As we neared the town we passed our first horse drawn cart - it was exciting to see. We already knew not to take photos of the Amish people - they ask you not to as it is against their beliefs, so we took a quick snap of the buggy.     Happy birthday to my love and my favorite clown, John! We celebrated after the show with wine, junk food, and four episodes of "Girls". A very lovely day which would have only been lovelier if we could have spent it with friends and family back home. But everyone sent John wonderful birthday greetings throughout the entire day, so I know we weren't far from people's thoughts. :)

    ... lots of Amish made quilts and souvenirs for sale. All three shops are run and owned by the Amish.
    A short drive down the road and we were in Arthur where we had 2 hours to wander the shops (one street long) for some bargains. I found an old quilt in Yoders Lamps and Antiques so of course I had to have it!!!! It's in great condition...white background with double Irish ...

    ... lollies, chocolates and ice cream. I think everyone bought some. I suggested the honey salted caramel chocolates from last year and they were a hit. The banana splits were also a big hit.     ... for prescription medicine. Unlike in Australia where we go to the doctor and they prescribe us what they believe is needed, American's can go to the doctor and ask the doctor to prescribe them what they have seen on television. The funniest part is that they list all of the potential side effects of taking the medication, with the list often lasting longer than the actual advertisement itself.
