... it was feeding time. This zoo included a water slide which was a huge attraction. We chose not to stand in the long lines just to slide down the slide into the water below. It would have cooled us off but you know how it is waiting in long lines!
We have been impressed at how neat and clean everything is in the areas we've visited. Lots of pretty flowers and well tended lawns - even in poorer areas.
Well it's Thursday and ...
... so we just stayed on the coach and fixed lunch. By the time we'd finished eating the rain had stopped so Jim took over and on we went to Buckeye Lake.
We got set up in our campsite then went to eat dinner. Jim found a local diner called "Clay's Cafe" in Hebron, OH. You can see pictures attached. It was quaint with stools at the counter that reminded us of our growing up ...
... Pennsylvania and Ohio.
The drive was fairly uneventful, and my navigating skills proved to get us to out destination without any random detours - yay! We did end up in a storm where the rain was so heavy that we could barely see the road, but luckily, these tended to be short sharp showers.
For the rest of this week, we will have similarly long drives until we reach the Rushmore ...
... hall, the PD and a beautiful church who's bells were tolling beautiful songs. Too bad you can't hear them. I thought it was kind of funny that Mike parked in a 'No parking zone' right next to the police station and he didn't even notice.
Along our tour we found barns, neat houses, fire in the field and a barn with corn growing through ...
... there is a lake here. We never could find it, or its beaches. There is a huge berm all of the way around the lake so you can't see in. Not that that would make much difference with all of the houses set about a foot apart from each other and up against the berm. Strange. Then again, we are in Ohio so what else should we expect, right Christi??
