The Prohibition and the Great Depression of the 1920s and '30s were lucrative times for outlaws like Al Capone and John Dillinger. Charismatic and successful, they were polarizing figures unpopular with the FBI and local police-the honest ones, anyway.
The usual suspects were often on the run. And that usually meant Wisconsin.

... suitcases of about 50 pounds each. I have successfully packed my meds, teaching supplies, winter, summer and professional clothes with a limited amount of shoes and clutches. (1 clutch and 4 pairs shoes to be exact - which for all who know me well, know how this has broken my heart - please take a moment to remember all those beautiful color heels that are going to be neglected and miss out on walking the streets of CHINA!)
Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States billiechristine... I go and walk around my territory. I stop at Bar International and order a tall San Miguel- I am no lush but give me a break. Two older American men were talking and I sort of included myself in their conversation. I actually completely and utterly bombarded their conversation, but what the hell else was I suppose to do? Turns out they were annuity agents and we started talking business as usual. They were on an agent trip in the nicest hotel in ...

Schofield, Wisconsin, United States llstreve... photographs of country music legends (and also runs his pub). They were all there, Cash, Nelson, Haggard, Campbell and in his rock section, Orbison and Perkins. However the crème de la crème (as far as I was concerned) was a signed photograph of the King, Waylon Jennings! Oh my, it was brilliant and again I thought of Dad, "he would love to be in this pub" I told Archie. Archie told me that he had received an exact replica of Waylon's ...
Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States gregjulMonday August 27, 2007, Travel Day. Leaving the Badlands behind we crossed South Dakota and Minnesota. Not much to see from the highway. Crossing the Missouri River we stopped to take in the view. More farms and giant windmill turbines dotted the scenery, quite a sight there must have been at least one hundred of them. That night we found the Dalles House Motel on Highway 8, it had everything we needed a clean bed, restaurant next door and a laundry room.
