      Ten Days to Texas

      On this long, challenging bicycle journey, I am currently 120 miles, or 3 days west of Kansas. There I will turn south for another 2 or 3 days to knock off Oklahoma and Arkansas on my way to Texarkana at the Texas state line.

      Just writing those words seems a bit surreal, but it's been like that for the entire trip. In reality, I now have over 5300 tough miles behind me ...

      ... Clearly a dog lover, Matt had 5 dogs, 2 retired police dogs (they retire at 8 years old). He said drug crime was on the up and was kept "real busy". He wished us on our way, and we told him to keep safe.

      It got to that point where we were hungry. so we stopped at McDonalds, (for quickness, and the first on of our trip). The portions are HUGE, even the straws are wider.

      ... when it was built in the 60's the Americans were less, erm...... Chubby! It was a tad cosy! We shared our capsule with a lovely lady called Joyce. She was on a coach tour across Route 66 and was from Boston (Massachusetts). Joyce and I did NOT enjoy the journey up.       ... easier than Chicago! Lunch at the famous Joey Bs on the Landing, the highlight for the kids was the huge 'wall of shots' menu comprising of 124 different variety of shots with names such as 'lipstick on my dipstick' and 'pink pussy'....naturally I refrained from participating although Lily now thinks she has a business venture for Lymington!!
