    ... clocked at 43 MPH. Good Grief - can't imagine being in a horse travelling that fast. He was said to have had a stride of 25'. WOWSER. 3:50 - Berea, KY - came right to the spot we enjoyed so much last year (going and coming) and the damn place was closed for renos - really?? 2 days in a row for favourites closed for renos.     ... did get to take home the glasses we sampled the drinks in, which is pretty cool and a nice souvenir. After that tour it was seriously time for a nap. We got in a good hour nap and then headed out to the Old Owl Tavern. It was recommended to do along with the bourbon trail as a great traditional restaurant with a huge bourbon selection. The tavern was in the basement of the Beaumont Inn. The Inn itself was beautiful and obviously a fancy place to stay ...

    We were making our way towards Lexington Kentucky to do some bourbon drinking but it was still a little too far away to do in a single drive. We spent the day driving through the winding roads of the Appalachian Mountains. When we entered Kentucky I was surprised at how foresty it was. The ground consisted of the large home, decorated with many period pieces as well as artifacts from the original family, a slave quarters, smokehouse, ice house, and various gardens.
