If there were rivers from the Basin it would then flow out to sea BUT there are no rivers so it sits in lakes in the Basin where the water evaporates leaving selenite crystals.     ... places to pull over and get out and play on the dunes. The sand felt wonderful. We were lucky it was a cool day (79 degrees) so the sand wasn't hot.
