Driving in the rain

... that they have finally developed that area and the riverfront. I had always wanted it like that when I lived there, but I must say that on a Friday Night before a home football game it is not fun to drive around there. We finally land at a Buddy’s BBQ which is fine. At this point my head is killing me and I hardly eat anything other than my fries dipped in the baked beans. We hit the Kroger ...

Best place to stay in the Smokies

... the kids just love. Bicycles, tubes for floating down the river. some areas have pretty good rapids parts are slower and relaxing. The bicycle trail starts right there accross the road and runs to the other end of town (5 miles). The Tuckaleechee Caverns are amazing and only cost about $12.00 per person for an almost 2 hour tour and it is open not not cramped like most. Many horseback riding stables. The best one is 1 mile from Lodge and ...

CSI's and Scientists

... back at my Hotel. Thanks for today Robert, you were a star and I really got a lot out of meeting with all the contacts you introduced me to.

Tennessee is full of motivated, honest and dedicated staff involved in all aspects of forensic science in this part of the State. they have invested time and resources to ensure that there is a continuity of training and development for their people and this appears to be paying dividens for them. Well done guys, keep up the good work.

Delays, Drowning and Delight

... has worked for them really well. Needless to say we put the world to rights over dinner and I must say that the Tennessee hospitality is first class. Thank you Nathan.

Nathan is flying out to Seattle tomorrow so his colleague Robert is taking me out for the day to visit the CSI department and also the new forensic lab that has been built to service this third of the state. I cant wait.

Time for bed as it has been a very long day travelling!

Knoxville

Well, not much to say about Knoxville as we arrived late due to trying to sort out an extra day car hire as we realised we wouldn't make it to Washington D.C. by 11:00 the next day. By the time we got there we just wanted to relax so we went to Ruby Tuesday's for a late lunch and then I went and sat by the pool. We ended up watching back to back movies of Get Shorty and Be Cool (which always makes us laugh).

The next day it was the big pull to Washington D.C.

Long day of driving!

... with us. After speaking with Jo tonight, I learned he quickly forgot about me once he entered the Fair! Overall we made very good time. Traffic was quite light everywhere we went. We traveled a total of 593 miles today. Ended the day in Clinton, TN--just north of Knoxville. Will head to Chattanooga in morning to check out civil war battle field. May be able to hit northern ...

Reflections

... me a little dizzy and nauseous.
While I've been trying to sort them out, however, I've been looking back through them. We really did make a mad dash around Japan. I would love to go back someday and spend more time in certain places, really get my fingernails dirty with the culture, especially in the more rural places.
Overall, I loved the country of Japan and its people. There were times when the "spectacle" feeling of being ...

"TOUR OG CUSCO PERU"

... It is a friendly place, it will certainly take you back in time to the time of the Inca Indians ruled and in my honest opinion there is no other place like it on earth. The quaint homes all have clay or terracotta roofs, and much like Italy, you could almost walk roof to roof in some places. And as for the shopping ...

Second day

... not a call to action to go give every booze hound on the streets money, just my musings on the issue having been in the situation for most of today. Anyway, i don't know where i'll be working tomorrow i have to show up at 5 a.m. and they'll place me doing something for the day. I don't mind whatever it is as long as i have means to move on at the end of the day. My friend Jesse took me up to apply today and ...

Lasting Effects of the Japan Experience

... to one another immediately following the blast all the way through the subsequent rebuilding of the city. Whether we agree with the bombing of Hiroshima or not, and regardless of our opinions about the Japanese as our enemies in World War II, we cannot help but relate to each of those thousands of people who were swept up in the fury of the bomb or whose lives were destroyed. This fact speaks to something that is often overlooked in our world. Even though we might have ...
